AECOM is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Traction Power Intern to join our team in the Philadelphia, PA office. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design, analysis of DC or AC traction power systems for railways, light rail transit (LRT), or other electrified transportation networks. Additionally, AECOM’s dedication to innovation and sustainability enables interns to contribute to meaningful projects that help shape communities and the built environment.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>Assist in the design and analysis of traction power distribution systems, including substations, overhead catenary systems (OCS), and third rail systems.</li><li>Support the development of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts.</li><li>Perform calculations related to voltage drop, current flow, and power system performance.</li><li>Assist in the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.</li><li>Conduct field inspections and site visits to gather data and observe construction activities.</li><li>Assist in the testing and commissioning of traction power equipment.</li><li>Support the maintenance and troubleshooting of existing traction power systems.</li><li>Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and documentation.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.</li></ul>Learning Objectives:<ul><li>Gain practical experience in the design and analysis of traction power systems.</li><li>Develop skills in using industry-standard software and tools.</li><li>Learn about the operation and maintenance of railway or transit systems.</li><li>Enhance communication and teamwork skills.</li><li>Build a professional network in the transportation industry.</li></ul>
