This role requires extensive composite experience for both R&amp;D and production parts while working closely with both engineering and manufacturing teams. The Joby Aviation team is looking to add good people with great skills to our already dynamic team.</p><p> </p><p>The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work with little to no supervision.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Strong attention to detail and precision in work.</li> <li>Ability to follow instructions and interpret technical specifications.</li> <li>Strong understanding of composite materials and their handling.</li> <li>Manual dexterity and ability to use hand tools effectively.</li> <li>Commitment to safety protocols and the ability to work in a safe manner.</li> <li>Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.</li> <li>Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping purposes.</li> <li>Perform layup and infusion of carbon fiber composite parts using RTM process (Resin Transfer Molding).</li> <li>Perform material kitting/ply cutting using CNC controlled equipment.</li> <li>Perform tooling preparation work, cleaning, sealing, and applying release agents.</li> <li>Perform Demold, deflash, and trimming of formed carbon fiber parts.</li> <li>Perform secondary bonding operations of cured composite and metallic components using paste adhesives.</li> <li>Support resolution of tooling and equipment issues to reduce downtime and maintain production quality.<strong> </strong></li> <li>Assisting in developing new manufacturing processes and technology.</li> <li>Work closely with manufacturing engineering to refine and validate processes to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.</li> <li>Minimum of 2-4 years in relevant industry.</li> <li>Perform tooling prep work and hand lay-up of dry or prepreg materials.</li> <li>Cutting and trimming of composite parts within close tolerances using hand tools i.e., hand router, hand drill, hand sander.</li> <li>Knowledge of basic inspection equipment.</li> <li>Structural bond and fastening of composite assemblies, including surface preparation for bonding.</li> <li>Able to lift assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs.</li> <li>Able to become certified to wear a respirator.</li> <li>Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.</li> <li>Maintain work area in a neat, orderly, and organized manner.</li> <li>Have no known allergies to epoxies or other composites materials.</li> <li>Must be able to verbally communicate, read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, detailed blueprints and other similar authorized drawings and documents, and be capable of doing basic mathematical calculations.</li> <li>Oven, autoclave, laser projection, and automated ply cutting equipment operator experience a plus, but not required.</li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Strong project management experience </li> <li>Experience working with 3DExperience, Catia V5/V6, Delmia, and Enovia. </li> <li>Experience with laser projection systems (Virtek or Aligned Vision). </li> <li>Experience with composite cutting tables (Gerber, Zund, Eastman, etc.). </li> <li>Certifications in Lean Six Sigma (e.g., Green Belt or Black Belt). </li> <li>Experience with automation technologies in composite manufacturing. </li></ul><p>Statistics show that under-represented groups, such as women and other minority groups, don’t apply to a job unless they meet 100% of the required qualifications.
