Overview:The Diamond &amp; Jewelry Services Auditor is a contract position, working independently but in close communication with a remote team. The auditor travels to client offices, factories, or manufacturing facilities to assess practices and systems relative to the SCS-007-1 and Responsible Jewelry Council certification standards. Assessments involve document review, employee and contractor interviews, and on-site evaluation of activities. Detailed assessment reports must be written and submitted on time. SCS provides ongoing training.Relevant Services/Schemes:<ul> <li>Responsible Jewelry Council- Code of Practices, Chain of Custody, and LGMS Standards</li> <li>SCS-007-1 Sustainability Rated Diamonds Standard</li></ul>Scope of Work:Audit Coordination<ul> <li>Schedule and confirm audit date with client</li> <li>Prepare and send client audit plan according to protocols</li> <li>Book travel, hotel, and transportation according to company policy, and submit expense reports</li></ul>Audit Services<ul> <li>Adhere to all quality and code of conduct standards</li> <li>Prepare clients for the audit process by sending required necessary audit paperwork according to established timelines</li> <li>Conduct audits using applicable checklists, forms, and tools</li> <li>Maintain positive client relationships and respond to all client inquiries and concerns</li> <li>Submit complete and accurate audit reports within established timelines</li> <li>Ensure thorough client records are maintained</li></ul>Program Quality and Compliance<ul> <li>Attend training(s) to maintain qualifications to conduct audits; maintain training records</li> <li>Maintain up to date knowledge of nation laws and regulations, as well as applicable standards</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications:Education &amp; Experience<ul> <li>University degree or equivalent in a relevant field</li> <li>Minimum of two years’ professional experience in mining, refining, jewelry manufacturing, supply chain management, or sustainability</li> <li>Contextual understanding of industry risks, impacts, and sustainability practices</li> <li>Prior auditing experience (internal, external, or third-party) strongly preferred</li></ul>Skills &amp; Knowledge<ul> <li>Responsible sourcing and supply chain management</li> <li>Chain of custody models and traceability</li> <li>Kimberley Process / World Diamond Council System of Warranties</li> <li>Social auditing and compliance standards</li> <li>Jewelry and diamond manufacturing processes</li> <li>Product disclosure, transportation of materials, and retail operations</li> <li>Security and human rights in supply chains</li> <li>Awareness of artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM)</li></ul>Training &amp; Certifications<ul> <li>RJC Lead Auditor status</li> <li>ISO management systems training (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 19011)</li> <li>Familiarity with ILO Conventions</li> <li>Knowledge of UN Guiding Principles on Business &amp; Human Rights</li> <li>Understanding of OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals</li> <li>Familiarity with “Know Your Customer” compliance for anti-money laundering/terrorism financing</li></ul>Core Competencies<ul> <li>Complete fluency in English (written and spoken)</li> <li>Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills</li> <li>High attention to detail, with sound judgment and independence</li> <li>Excellent client communication and relationship-building skills</li> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)</li></ul>
