This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute significantly to our financial operations in a rapidly expanding organization!</p><p> </p><p>As a <strong>Senior Accountant</strong>, you will be responsible for independently managing assigned accounts and playing a key role in month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role contributes to audits, process improvements, and may provide guidance to junior staff.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Independently prepare journal entries and reconcile moderate to complex general ledger accounts (e.g., prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany accounts)</li> <li>Lead the month-end close process for assigned entities or departments, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting</li> <li>Prepare financial statements, management reports, and audit schedules with minimal supervision in accordance with GAAP</li> <li>Analyze income statement and balance sheet activity to identify and explain variances from budget and forecast</li> <li>Participate in the integration of new business units or acquisitions into the general ledger and accounting systems</li> <li>Apply GAAP standards in day-to-day accounting operations; assist with the implementation of new accounting guidance</li> <li>Provide input and support for internal and external audits by preparing lead schedules and responding to auditor inquiries</li> <li>Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and IT to resolve discrepancies and improve data quality</li> <li>Recommend and help implement improvements to accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting tools</li> <li>May mentor or review the work of junior staff, supporting training and knowledge-sharing initiatives</li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2><ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or progress toward certification preferred</li> <li>4+ years of professional accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or multi-entity environment</li> <li>Public Accounting experience is Preferred</li> <li>Solid understanding of GAAP and hands-on experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis</li> <li>Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and strong Microsoft Office skills</li> <li>Experience preparing audit files and supporting internal or external audits</li> <li>Ability to independently manage assigned accounts and contribute to month-end close activities</li> <li>Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and interpret financial data</li> <li>Effective communicator who can collaborate across teams and explain financial concepts to non-finance partners</li> <li>Experience mentoring junior staff or reviewing work is a plus</li></ul><h2>Physical Demands &amp; Work Environment</h2><ul> <li>This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment</li> <li>The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions</li> <li>The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms</li> <li>The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds</li></ul><h2>EEO Statement</h2><p><strong>UES is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is proud to recruit the most qualified candidates.
