This role is pivotal in scaling up our delivery and project management capabilities, ensuring excellence across pre-construction, construction, and handover phases. You will be instrumental in driving innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric outcomes across a £5bn development pipeline that includes housing, mixed-use regeneration, science and tech, and commercial offerings.</p><h3>Context of Opportunity / Main Accountabilities</h3><ul><li>Lead project management and delivery strategy implementation across new-build and heritage retrofit projects.</li><li>Oversee procurement of construction contracts and consultant appointments, ensuring best practice and value creation.</li><li>Champion a safety-first culture and embed health and safety policies across all delivery activities.</li><li>Manage commercial aspects including change control, budget oversight, and monthly reporting.</li><li>Drive sustainability outcomes including net zero, biodiversity, and social value creation.</li><li>Foster strong relationships with tenants, supply chain partners, and community stakeholders.</li><li>Collaborate with Development, Property Management, Asset Management, and Sustainability teams to ensure seamless project execution.</li><li>Represent The Crown Estate at industry events and lead initiatives that promote innovation and efficiency.</li><li>Support governance and reporting requirements including Quarterly Business Reviews and project control groups.</li><li>Lead phasing strategies, buildability reviews, and stakeholder liaison with technical bodies.</li><li>Promote teamwork, knowledge sharing, and a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.</li></ul><h3>Most Important Skills-Based Requirements</h3><ul><li>Proven experience in senior delivery, construction, and project management roles across complex development portfolios.</li><li>Experience working on both contractor and client sides, with a track record of leading major new-build and refurbishment projects.</li><li>Strong understanding of safety culture, risk management, and sustainability in real estate development.</li><li>Skilled in financial management, commercial awareness, and public procurement practices.</li><li>Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and deliver projects on time and within budget.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.</li><li>Strategic thinker with a solution-oriented mindset and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Professionally qualified with relevant industry experience and membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. Chartered Engineer, Construction Management).</li><li>Committed to innovation, digital transformation, and delivering social impact through development.</li><li>Understanding of the housing industry and strategic land development.</li></ul><p><strong></strong></p><p><strong><br></strong></p><p><strong>Our Offering / benefits:</strong></p><p>As well as a competitive salary, pension and performance related bonus offering, we have a wealth of benefits available ranging from flexible working; market leading family policies and shopping discounts in the West End, to private healthcare; life and critical illness cover and 28 days holiday with the option to buy more.
