EngSoc IT Operations is a branch of the Engineering Society focused on refining the user experience for members, identifying gaps in the IT infrastructure, resolving and troubleshooting issues, creating an accessible knowledgebase for EngSoc members, and pursuing IT related projects.Job DescriptionAs a general member, you report to the IT Operations Manager. Your work will consist of some collaboration and individual work as needed, subject to change based on what IT support needs are during the academic year. There will be regular check-ins to voice concerns, ask questions, and demonstrate progress.<ul><li>Responsibilities of an IT Operations Team General Member include:</li><li>Resolving tickets submitted by EngSoc members to the ticketing system such as:</li><li>Account support (Password resets, user authentication troubleshooting, general questions)</li><li>EngSoc shop inquiries</li><li>EngSoc web server inquiries</li><li>Creating thorough documentation of problems solved, and the steps to come to a resolution.</li><li>Monitoring websites under the EngSoc domain and reporting and correcting issues or requests.</li><li>Updating the knowledgebase to better serve EngSoc members and allow for self-serve solutions.</li></ul>These responsibilities will be divided among the team with specific tasks assigned to each person, but everyone will be encouraged to receive training on all duties!QualificationsThis position does not require any prior experience! The traits below are being considered:<ul><li>The ability to work in a team</li><li>The ability to work alongside others is an asset as a general member. There will be shared duties and responsibilities, which require communication between different members.</li><li>Written communication skills</li><li>Documenting solutions to tickets, reporting statistics, and asking for further information regarding tickets would require the ability to write clearly and be concise. </li><li>Open to learning</li><li>Components of this position may introduce new things to you, and that is expected! On the team, everyone is supporting each other and you are not expected to know anything before training. As long as you are inclined to learn, you will enjoy ITOps!</li></ul>Time CommitmentEach team member should account for about 4 hours of work a week.
