We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.<h2>Overview</h2><p>Joby Aviation is seeking a highly capable Technical Safety Analyst to join the Safety Team to contribute to continuous improvement in the safety of our development and production aircraft. This individual will possess a strong understanding of the developmental safety process, data analytics, and Safety Management System. They will work with the Flight Test and Engineering teams to understand and address safety aspects of aircraft issues during testing in a fast-moving development environment. The position is located in Santa Cruz, California and travel to offsite test locations is required. </p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Ability to investigate incidents, determine technical corrective actions, and share findings with relevant engineers. </li></ul><ul> <li>Responsible for bringing technical safety perspective to help resolve issues discovered during developmental testing, with oversight from the Technical Safety Lead  </li></ul><ul> <li>Works to continuously improve the aircraft safety through application of SMS  </li></ul><ul> <li>Apply data analytics skills to identify emerging risks and anticipate future issues as part of Safety Risk Management (SRM) and supports collection of safety data and statistics to support safety assurance (SA)  </li></ul><ul> <li>Leads Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations working with Flight Test, Engineering, and other departments to understand and drive improvements back to aircraft requirements and design  </li></ul><ul> <li>Prepare presentations, analyses, and reports for internal and external reviews and safety boards and participate in other safety committees as required  </li></ul><ul> <li>Supports the broader safety team in company safety programs   </li></ul><ul> <li>Other duties as assigned  </li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>3 years’ system safety experience in aircraft development environment  </li></ul><ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree, with Aviation Safety specialty or equivalent experience  </li></ul><ul> <li>Comprehensive data analysis and statistical skills  </li></ul><ul> <li>Knowledgeable in investigative techniques and tools  </li></ul><ul> <li>Previous experience with SMS, SRM and SA  </li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Formal Safety Training (Military, FAA, NTSB, SCSI, Collegiate)  </li></ul><ul> <li>Advanced degree  </li></ul><ul> <li>Experience working with developmental aircraft  </li></ul><ul> <li>FAA or Military pilot or maintenance certifications   </li></ul><ul> <li>Project management experience   </li></ul><ul> <li>Experience with human factors in aviation  </li></ul><ul> <li>Experience with airplane development and certification  </li></ul><h2>Additional Information</h2><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $71,900 - $108,700/year.
