The goal of a Cell Modeling Engineer at Wisk is to ensure that validated performance and degradation physics based  models are delivered. You will be part of the ESPS team that deliver the modeling and simulation solutions. This is a hybrid work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Mountain View, CA office 3 days per week with flexibility for the remainder of the days. What you will do: <ul><li>As part of the ESPS organization, and deployed in a cell engineering team you will act as a battery cell modeling engineer for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market</li><li>You will take part in developing full order, physics-based electrochemical-thermal models for current and future generation of battery cells</li><li>You will support analyzing test data to understand  processes explaining aging and performance; develop simplified models from these insights. Guide experiments to establish optimal test procedures for improved model calibration and accuracy.</li><li>Translate complex physics into simplified, reduced-order models.</li><li>Support development of RC models for usage in control algorithms</li><li>Link cell-level models to pack-level performance, incorporating cell-to-cell variations.</li><li>Develop techniques to improve model accuracy across evtol operating conditions </li><li>Develop battery life models (predicting capacity loss, resistance rise, pressure changes)</li><li>You will help support problem solving activities  system trade studies for cell format selection, Guide decisions on cell chemistry and design selection and overall system design based on modeling and test results.</li><li>Guide experiments to establish optimal test procedures for improved model calibration and accuracy.</li><li>Develop simplified methods to correlate model parameter changes with temperature and battery age across various aging conditions.</li></ul>Requirements:<ul><li>Master’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, PhD highly preferred </li><li>3+ years of hands-on experience in battery, energy storage modeling and battery data analysis.  </li><li>Deep understanding of Lithium-ion battery technologies</li><li>Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, matlab/simulink, with experience in data manipulation, physical modeling, statistical modeling, and machine learning. </li><li>Experience in different modeling simulation tools including but not limited to COMSOL, Pybamm, GT-Autolion etc..</li><li>Experience working with large datasets, performing statistical analysis, and using data visualization tools. </li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret and analyze complex datasets. </li></ul>Compensation and Benefits:In addition to offering a great work environment and the opportunity to be part of the team making electric autonomous flight a reality, at Wisk, we offer excellent total rewards which include a competitive base salary, annual bonus, long term incentive, 401K, health benefits and much more.  Job Type: Full-timePay Range the Company expects to pay: $165,588 - $194,810 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.We are committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity, and we encourage  individuals from all backgrounds, including those from marginalized or underrepresented groups in the tech industry and aerospace, to apply for our job openings.
