SummaryThe Laboratory Tech Assistant is responsible for day-to-day analysis of samples arriving in the laboratory ensuring they meet proper specifications.This is a regular full-time position based in Delta. However, hours of work can change based on the operational needs of the business.Specific Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>Provides chemical &amp; physical QA/QC analysis in support of the lower mainland facility operations</li><li>Ensures incoming samples are received, processed accurately, completed in a timely manner and archived</li><li>Responsible for reporting concerns about samples, analytical results and equipment problems to the Laboratory Supervisor</li><li>Assists in the development and implementation of QA/QC policies and procedures</li><li>Maintains laboratory housekeeping standards in accordance with the Laboratory Manual and industry accepted laboratory practices</li><li>Performs routine instrument preventative maintenance</li><li>Ordering, tracking and maintaining inventory of day-to-day laboratory supplies as required</li><li>Provides technical support on assigned projects</li><li>Provides insight into and interpretation of analytical results</li><li>Familiar with internal and external industry specifications that support the business</li><li>Ensures that results, reports &amp; product release forms (including certificates of analysis) are completed, recorded and appropriately reported/distributed in a timely, efficient and professional manner.</li><li>Maintains a good general knowledge of the process, the products and the customers</li><li>Comply with Corporate &amp; regulatory policies and procedures.</li><li>Understands and uses the Workplace Hazardous Material Information System</li><li>Maintains the Laboratory S.D.S. database</li></ul>Experience &amp; Education <ul><li>Valid Class 5 Driver's License and a fairly clean commercial driving abstract is required</li><li>Post-secondary education in environmental sciences, chemistry, biology, or equivalent is strongly preferred</li><li>Prior experience in hazardous waste industry or related field would be a definite asset</li><li>Technical knowledge in lab packing, unknown identification and hazard assessments are highly desirable</li><li>Working knowledge in BC Hazardous Waste Regulation, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and WHMIS</li><li>Use of Air Purifying respirator (APR) requires individual to be clean shaven.</li><li>Strong proficiency in computer and mobile device operation, including effective utilization of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows, and other software applications.</li></ul>Knowledge Skills and Abilities<ul><li>Ability to perform physical tasks including shoveling, lifting, moving containers and other heavy materials</li><li>Energetic, detail oriented with excellent organizational, problem solving, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills</li><li>Enthusiastic self-starter with a strong work ethic and proven track record for success</li><li>Adaptive to constant changes in business environment and demands</li><li>Reliable team player that is supportive of co-workers</li><li>Prior knowledge in First Aid / CPR, H2S Alive, Fall Protection awareness, NORM Awareness would be an asset</li><li>Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, such as Excel, Word and Outlook</li></ul>  We thank you for your interest.
