The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Oakland, CA.</div><div></div><div>Accountabilities:</div><ul><li>Configure and test network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls) and radio communications hardware (base stations, antennas, DAS).</li><li>Configure network protocols (IP addressing, routing protocols) and radio protocols (LMR and wideband).</li><li>Perform and be accountable for verification and validation activities starting in the factory until system hand over</li><li>Perform site surveys on railroad property to lay out basic equipment.</li><li>Supervise installations of Fiber Optic Cabling Systems and data communications systems</li><li>Test Network, radio and fiber systems</li><li>Troubleshoot network and radio equipment, conduct network performance tests, identifying, and resolving any connectivity issues or radio signal interference.</li><li>Create checklists and reports including system configuration, test results and any identified issues.</li></ul>Required Skills &amp; Experience:<ul><li>Minimum of 5 years of experience working with medium/complex networks and in radio deployment.</li><li>Working Knowledge of network design patterns, constraints and protocols (networking certification preferred)</li><li>Working knowledge of Switching and Routing protocols</li><li>Working knowledge of wireless communications in demanding scenarios</li><li>Excellent ability to use test equipment including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and a spectrum analyzer.</li><li>Working knowledge of Test and commissioning processes.</li><li>Skilled in handling electric, electronic, and mechanical drawings and schematics.</li><li>Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.</li><li>Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to communicate complex technical information.</li></ul>Desired Skills &amp; Experience:<ul><li>System integration, ensuring seamless integration between the network and radio systems, including synchronization and interoperability.</li><li>Radio Frequency/Telecommunications Qualifications/University Degree</li><li>From 2 to 5 years of Railway System Engineering and Commissioning expertise</li></ul>Education:Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related disciplineLanguage:English ProficiencyIn accordance with the DOT’s FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi’s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.The salary range for this position is $126,000 - $189,000 per year.  Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.Benefits:Hitachi Rail employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including Competitive Pay, Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, Short &amp; Long Term Disability, Life &amp; Accident Insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, a Retirement Savings Plan, and Paid Vacation.
