The Senior Legal Counsel will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the company’s legal interests while enabling business growth and operational efficiency. Key Accountabilities:Corporate Governance &amp; Compliance <ul><li>Oversee implementation of corporate governance actions in line with relevant laws and regulations. </li></ul><ul><li>Ensure timely and accurate performance of regulatory and legislative obligations. </li></ul><ul><li>Supervise maintenance of company registers and legal documentation. </li></ul>Legal Advisory &amp; Business Support <ul><li>Provide senior-level legal support to business units across APAC, including Japan-based and India-focused operations  </li></ul><ul><li>Advise on complex legal matters including M&amp;A, finance transactions, and intellectual property. </li></ul><ul><li>Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, NDAs, and strategic agreements. </li></ul>Stakeholder Engagement <ul><li>Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior executives and cross-functional teams. </li></ul><ul><li>Coordinate and instruct external legal counsel to ensure quality and cost-effective legal services. </li></ul>Risk Management &amp; Strategy <ul><li>Identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies. </li></ul><ul><li>Support strategic planning and decision-making with legal insights. </li></ul>Performance Criteria <ul><li>Timely compliance with legal and regulatory deadlines. </li></ul><ul><li>High quality and accuracy of legal outputs. </li></ul><ul><li>Effective stakeholder engagement and internal client satisfaction. </li></ul>Key Experience Preferred<ul><li>Strategic Thinking &amp; Legal Acumen </li></ul><ul><li>Market &amp; Customer Orientation </li></ul><ul><li>Excellence in Execution </li></ul><ul><li>High Ethical Standards &amp; Integrity </li></ul><ul><li>Strong Communication &amp; Negotiation Skills </li></ul>Education/Qualifications Preferred: <ul><li>Law degree (LLB or JD) and admission to practice in relevant jurisdictions. Additional CS qualification and experience will be valuable too.</li></ul><ul><li>Minimum 6–8 years PQE, with a mix of private practice and in-house experience. </li></ul><ul><li>Proven track record in corporate law, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiation. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience working across APAC jurisdictions and in a multinational industrial company is highly desirable. </li></ul>Thank you for your interest in Hitachi Rail.
