The Manufacturing Engineer will lead manufacturing equipment design and process development of Joby Aviation aircrafts battery modules, working closely with a cross-functional team. This individual must be highly organized and self-driven, possessing a deep understanding of mechanical, process, and industrial engineering fundamentals to successfully scale projects from prototype to low volume production, while keeping a vision for high volume production in mind. This position is exciting and rewarding, as the Manufacturing Engineer will promptly see their ideas influenced by many key areas due to the fast pace of Joby Aviation. </p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Direct and/or participate in program level strategy decisions</li> <li>Lead cross functional work with Product Design and Test teams on process/equipment/tool development.</li> <li>Own and improve existing production workstations, tools and procedures.</li> <li>Directly collaborate with Production team to support training</li> <li>Own design of new tools, equipment and processes for upcoming projects.</li> <li>Author Manufacturing Execution System (MES) procedures for Production team to use.</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>Requires a minimum of: Bachelor's degree +5yrs; Advanced degree +3yrs; or equivalent experience. </li> <li>Degree preferred to be in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent</li> <li>Understands how to operate in a fast paced, high quality, and lean / scrappy team </li> <li>Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals</li> <li>Excellent problem solving and teamwork skills while working with cross-functional teams</li> <li>Passion for diving into the details and providing constructive feedback to the team and other cross functional teams</li> <li>Proactive, driven, and self-starter personality</li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Experience in manufacturing in a regulated environment such as 14 CFR Part 21, ISO9001, ISO 13485, TS16949, or equivalent</li></ul><p> </p><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $92,200 - $149,700 per year.
