The successful candidate will be providing Human Factors input into the engineering change control process, managing the Bruce Power Human Factors program, overseeing the work of numerous HF contractors working for Bruce Power, representing Bruce Power on national and international standard and guidance committees, and interacting with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) on behalf of Human Factors in Design at Bruce Power.This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Contribute to and foster a safety culture to support Bruce Power’s Safety First value;</li><li>Maintain and revise the Human Factors Engineering Program Plan (HFEPP) currently in place at Bruce Power;</li><li>Identify innovation opportunities to improve and enhance the Human Factors program at Bruce Power;</li><li>Maintain and/or update Human Factors procedures for the section/department/division as required;</li><li>Identify and quantify risks and mitigating actions associated with the Human Factors in design process at Bruce Power;</li><li>Actively engage with Bruce Power’s licensing department when necessary to interface with the CNSC to represent Human Factors at Bruce Power;</li><li>Review and provide Human Factors input to engineering changes via the engineering change control process for systems and components to support operations, small projects and/or capital programs;</li><li>Execute Human Factors work programs and author Human Factors Engineering deliverables as required;</li><li>Provide Human Factors technical evaluations, advice and problem solving to support maintenance, operations, and engineering management;</li><li>Collaborate with station/system stakeholders including operations, maintenance, and design engineering when executing HF in design activities;</li><li>Develop engineering business related deliverables including Task definition sheets (TDS’s), TDS coversheets, budget estimates and work break down structures (WBS’s) as required;</li><li>Participate in training programs to further own development and assists in the development of others; and</li><li>Review relevant industry Operating Experience and regulatory requirements and initiate actions as necessary.</li></ul>Knowledge and Skills:<ul><li>Possess working knowledge of Human Factors codes and standards including MIL-STD-1472H, NUREG-0700, NUREG-0711, CSA N290.12, CSA N286.12, and their application to nuclear licensing where applicable;</li><li>Able to proactively recognize and manage risk;</li><li>Self-critical and continuing to improve on a personal level in both technical and interpersonal soft skills;</li><li>Creative thinker with results orientation to challenge the status quo and seek to implement innovative solutions to common Human Factors engineering practices;</li><li>Possesses understanding of Human Factors in the Nuclear Industry;</li><li>Attention to detail and accuracy;</li><li>Possess learning agility to understand the complex interactions and business practices of other functional areas within the Bruce Power organization;</li><li>Problem solving and pattern recognition abilities to address root causes of process barriers and inefficiencies.</li><li>Basic familiarity with the high-level layout and functioning of a CANDU nuclear power plant;</li><li>Quality written communication skills.  Able to write high quality, clear and concise reports.
