This role involves working with cross-functional teams, including Logistics, Manufacturing Operations, Facilities, Product Engineering, and New Product Introduction, to ensure the successful design, installation, and operation of Powertrain equipment. With a focus on enhancing production efficiency, this engineer will be responsible for developing robust manufacturing processes, optimizing equipment design, and ensuring the highest quality standards in Powertrain production.</p><p>You Will:</p><ul><li>Lead the technical efforts of teams engaged in the development and optimization of Powertrain equipment and manufacturing processes.</li><li>Develop and sustain manufacturing processes for Powertrain lines, focusing on equipment design, process parameters, and production efficiency.</li><li>Oversee and optimize key manufacturing processes such as soldering, dispensing, torquing, and End-of-Line Testing (EOLT), potting and dispensing processes to meet product and production requirements.</li><li>Work with cross-functional teams to specify, validate, and implement dispensing equipment, including pumps, valves, mixers, robotic systems and to evaluate potting materials.</li><li>Troubleshoot dispensing process issues including pump failures, air entrapment, material inconsistencies, curing and wet-out, etc.</li><li>Prepare and ensure station readiness for Powertrain line launches, including equipment and process validation.</li><li>Work cross-functionally with disciplines such as layout engineering, logistics, and product engineering to optimize Powertrain line layouts and equipment specifications.</li><li>Lead efforts in tracking and improving First Pass Yield (FPY) and monitoring error-proofing systems to enhance product quality and reliability.</li><li>Implement engineering solutions to address product design changes, reduce variation, and ensure consistent quality control.</li><li>Utilize problem-solving methodologies, including 8D, Six Sigma, and DOE, to resolve complex production challenges.</li><li>Use 3D modeling and simulations to validate equipment designs, including robotics, end-of-arm tooling, pick-and-place automation, and vision systems.</li><li>Drive cycle time improvements and enhance throughput by implementing effective production strategies.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product design changes, ensure manufacturability, process capability, implement process improvements and ensure high-quality production outcomes.</li><li>Monitor and manage consumables and scrap, identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities to optimize resource utilization.</li><li>Maintain documentation including work instructions, process flows, PFMEA, and control plans.</li><li>Familiarity with equipment control systems, I/Os, and machine coding logic to ensure optimal equipment functionality.</li><li>Willingness to support production across shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.</li></ul><p>You Bring:</p><ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or STEM Degree</li><li>5-8 years of experience in Powertrain Equipment/Manufacturing/Process Engineering, with a focus on automotive Powertrain equipment design and sustaining.</li><li>Hands-on experience with automated dispense systems (e.g., Nordson, Bdtronic, etc.).</li><li>Proven ability to lead technical efforts in complex equipment engineering and manufacturing development.</li><li>Strong analytical problem-solving skills, including experience with 8D, Six Sigma, and DOE methodologies.</li><li>Proficiency in AutoCAD, Catia, and Delmia for equipment design and layout optimization.</li><li>Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively at various levels within and outside the company.</li><li>Proven experience in driving cycle time improvements and enhancing production efficiency.</li><li>Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.</li><li>Flexibility to support various shifts, including day, night, swing shifts, and potential weekend/holiday work.</li></ul><p> </p><p> </p><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>At Lucid, we don’t just welcome diversity - we celebrate it!
