The GT Trainee will interact with Variable Frequency Drive, Industrial wiring, high voltage, panel wiring, and motor controls. The position will also assist Engineering with modifications/revisions to plant systems, equipment and/or components and assists other employees in the performance of all maintenance tasks that are beyond the maintenance department's capability. GT Trainee must perform and follow Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures on equipment such as Boilers, steam turbines, pumps, valves, chillers and high voltage equipment.  Position has call-out responsibilities and must be available to work all hours as needed, day or night, weekends, or holidays, and in all weather conditions. Requires ability to travel and stay overnight to various locations and the ability to work/respond on short notice to support planned/unplanned/emergency site events. The work schedule could vary between 5x8's, 4x10's with the possibility of working extended 12-hour shifts during unit outages. Willing to travel approximately 5-10% for training and assist other plant sites when required.The GT Trainee will be required to enter the Regulated and Renewable Energy Florida (RREF) Development Program and will be required to progress to a Generation Technician III level.  Incumbents must comply with all requirements under the training program, which involves, but is not limited to, training timelines and periodic performance assessments.Qualifications <ul><li>Successful completion of the Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) Test at the Instrumentation &amp; Controls (I&amp;C) level</li><li>Successful completion of the Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) Test</li><li>Ability to successfully complete the RREF Development Program for Generation Technicians.</li><li>Experience in troubleshooting and correcting electrical, mechanical and I&amp;C problems.</li><li>Familiar with the usage of high-tech electronic test equipment and other testing instruments. </li><li>Proficient in alignment, basic machining, rigging and equipment inspection and repair</li><li>Able to maintain the DCS and related equipment. </li><li>Ability to monitor generating equipment, read and interpret equipment readings, and monitor continuous control processes both inside the control room and around the generating units. </li><li>Operations knowledge of coal plant stations. </li></ul>Education<ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent</li></ul>Experience<ul><li>Must possess one (1) journeyman level proficiency in Mechanical, Electrical, or I&amp;C AND possess the ability to obtain progression level proficiency in the other two (2) Maintenance disciplines and in Operations.
