The High Voltage &amp; Electrical group effectively serves as stewards of equipment to identify, track, and escalate issues as required to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of our assets.Reporting to the Senior SME, HV&amp;E, you will be responsible for the delivery of day-to-day engineering and technical support for the Fleet.You will contribute to our team by <ul><li>Evaluating and assessing critical electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, breakers and determining the priority of repairs or mitigation methods.</li><li>Developing power systems models and performing power system analysis (arc flash, coordination, short circuit, power flow) using simulation and modelling software.  </li><li>Supporting the scope development and justification of sustaining capital and major projects.</li><li>Responding to real-time issues on sites, to allow for safe and timely return to service of affected assets.</li><li>Developing technical recommendations regarding the disposition of assets approaching the end of their design life.</li><li>Supporting major maintenance and turnaround activities.</li><li>Providing interpretation of codes, regulations, statutes and standards.</li><li>Reviewing and developing internal operations, maintenance, and engineering guidelines, procedures and standards.</li><li>Participating in the peer review process to ensure the responsible practice of engineering at Capital Power, in compliance with the Professional Practice Management Plan.</li><li>Acting continually to improve technical and management skillset through formal and informal training opportunities.</li></ul>What you will bring to the role   Education:<ul><li>Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.</li><li>Registered Professional Engineer, Professional Licensee, or Engineer-in-Training in Alberta.</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>1-5 years of engineering experience in Power Generation or Heavy Industry.</li></ul>Technical Skills and Qualifications:<ul><li>Strong communications skills (both written and spoken).</li><li>High level of attention to detail</li><li>Desire to learn on the job</li><li>Working collaboratively and building strong relationships with others.</li><li>Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop timely solutions.</li><li>Understanding of electrical testing, inspection, and maintenance processes.</li></ul>Working Conditions:<ul><li>Hybrid Office/Work from home position.</li><li>Periodic travel to generation facilities for shutdown and project support as required.</li><li>Working evenings, weekends, holidays as Operational requirements dictate.</li></ul>Additional DetailsAs this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug &amp; alcohol test is required.In order to be considered for this role you must be legally eligible to work in Canada.The successful candidate for this position will undergo an education verification, reference checks and criminal record check.             We believe that creating a culture that supports employee physical, mental, financial, and social wellbeing is critical to our success.
