<div> Position: R&amp;D Intern Reports To: Research Engineer III Coreshell's metallurgical Silicon anode technology delivers high capacity, fast-charging, and superior safety. Our low-cost liquid-phase nano-coating addresses critical electrode-surface degradation issues and enables batteries with a Silicon-dominant anode that have higher energy density, superior intrinsic thermal safety, and significantly lower cost/kWh compared to current LIBs. Our Si anode material is 50% the cost of graphite and 100% domestically sourced. We strive to transform the global automotive market by enabling low-cost and long-range EVs as a first step towards net-zero sustainability in the near future. The Position: Coreshell is investigating novel methods of maximizing the performance of metallurgical grade silicon as an anode material for lithium-ion battery applications.  The project will focus on advancing battery electrode materials by optimizing their composition processing techniques, and testing  in electrochemical cells. Project Goal: The project aims to study how cathode material properties and processing affect battery performance through materials characterization and cell testing.  Responsibilities:<ul><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Formulating, preparing electrode slurries, and applying coatings to current collectors.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Assembling coin cells using optimized cathode materials.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Characterizing materials using techniques such as SEM-EDX, TGA, and particle size analysis.</li><li style="margin-left:8px;">Assisting with setup, testing, and debugging of new processing operations.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Analyzing data and presenting it to the team members.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Maintaining detailed experiment records.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Adhering to lab safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe work environment </li></ul> Requirements:<ul><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">In process or obtained a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Hands-on experience working in research laboratories, glovebox handling.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Creative, self-driven, “out-of-the-box” thinker with a long history of problem-solving and an ability to wear many hats.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Strong interpersonal and communication skills. </li></ul> Desired experience:<ul><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Experience with coin cell building and electrochemical analysis.</li><li style="text-align:justify;margin-left:8px;">Experience with material analytical techniques.</li></ul> Location &amp; Benefits: Full-Time, on-site in San Leandro, CA.
