Ongoing training and development are part of every job, providing constant growth and skill-building potential.Be a part of the team — our future is bright!In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Governance Oversight Assessment &amp; Learning division is currently hiring for a Program Manager, Conventional Safety.Under the guidance and direction of the Governance and Oversight Director, the Conventional Safety Program Manager will be accountable to deliver simple, effective, and quality governance and oversight activities for the Conventional Safety functional area.The Program Manager will be a technical authority for the functional area and will achieve governance and oversight responsibilities by leading and managing a team of technical staff, interfacing with station counterparts from multiple functional areas, participating in industry forums, and assisting the Governance and Oversight Director as required.This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.What will you be responsible for?<ul><li>Ensures all section activities, including that undertaken by contractors, are carried out with full regard to site license requirements, statutory regulations, company and location directives, procedures and Safety Rules.</li><li>Establish work priorities for the team to meet division needs.</li><li>Ensures all personnel in the section are appropriately trained for the tasks delegated to them and have appropriate qualifications and authorization.</li><li>Evaluate the performance of staff.</li><li>Provide feedback, coaching and mentoring, as required, to improve performance.</li><li>Identifies opportunities for training to improve functional area performance and interfaces with Learning and Performance Division to evaluate.</li><li>Evaluates industry OPEX reports as assigned, including developing of actions to be taken by the line and Governance Oversight Assessment and Learning. </li><li>Executes actions to address worker engagement for the section.</li><li>Improves staff enablement by ensuring functional area processes and procedures are simple and efficient while meeting all of requirements.</li><li>Identifies risks to nuclear safety and the business are understood, documented, and elevated as appropriate though Bruce Power elevation tools, risk registers.</li><li>Reviews, on a regular basis, risk register items related to functional areas to ensure appropriate categorization and prioritization based on performance and business needs.</li><li>Execute work plans to ensure all legal, regulatory, business and other requirements for assigned functional areas are defined and documented in Bruce Power governance such that staff are enabled to comply with requirements in an efficient and safe manner.  </li><li>Develop implementation and communication plans for changes to governance to all affected stakeholders.  Monitor implementation for effectiveness.</li><li>Execute an oversight work program to monitor functional area performance, identify performance problem areas, and develop insight to the causes of issues and behaviours through targeted observations and follow up with line supervision and management.</li><li>Ensure the validity, objectivity and factual content of observations performed by the team.  Ensure reasonable conclusions are made based on sound evidence.</li><li>Assist the Director in developing performance ratings and trajectory assessments based on results of the team’s oversight activities</li><li>Communicate on a regular basis with the functional area managers the results of observations and monitoring activities.</li><li>Escalates concerns to station counterparts and/or Governance and Oversight Director.</li><li>Critically evaluate and monitor the team’s ability to detect performance problems before they are identified by external agencies.  Take action to improve oversight performance where required.</li><li>Maintain awareness of upcoming changes in regulations and standards, industry best practices, and operating experience that may have impacts to the functional area governance.</li><li>Participate in industry working groups / committees to maintain awareness of industry standards, issues, and performance.  Contribute to industry standards as assigned.</li><li>Define performance metrics for the functional areas that monitor performance and governance health. Recommend performance targets and improvement activities that will achieve top quartile performance.</li><li>Assist the Governance and Oversight Director with peer team activities as assigned.</li><li>Provide support as required.</li></ul>Education:<ul><li>This knowledge is considered to be gained through successful completion of a four (4) year University degree in a science or engineering discipline.</li><li>Certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional.</li><li>Knowledge of hazards and controls.</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>A minimum of 8 years up to and including 10 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.</li><li>Experience in a safety professional role in an industrial facility is required.    </li><li>Experience effectively leading and managing teams of staff.</li><li>Experience interacting with shop floor staff.</li><li>Experienced with reading, understanding, and interpreting occupational health and safety regulations.</li><li>Experienced with interfacing with the Ministry of Labour is an asset.</li><li>Industrial Safety evaluation experience through participation in an industry evaluation such as a WANO or OSART evaluation is a significant asset.</li><li>Observed Industrial safety practices at one or more other facilities through benchmarking or previous work experience is an asset.</li></ul>Are you ready for a change?Please complete the online application and attach a cover letter and resume, indicating your education and experience as it relates to this opportunity.
