We combine deep domain expertise in clean energy with AI-powered document systems and diligence tools to make climate finance faster, smarter, and more accessible.We are a small, high-performing team of builders and domain experts looking for exceptional engineers to help us scale.<h3> The Role</h3>We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to play a core role in designing and building the backbone of our climate finance diligence platform. You will work across systems that power AI-driven document processing, data workflows, and transaction management for clean energy tax credits.This is a high-impact role where you will collaborate closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to shape product direction, technical design, and engineering culture as we scale rapidly.<h3> What You’ll Do</h3><ul><li>Design, build, and scale core backend and data systems supporting the clean energy tax credit diligence process</li><li>Collaborate with founders and domain experts to translate complex workflows into reliable, maintainable software</li><li>Drive design decisions across services and domains (data modeling, APIs, AI integrations, RAG systems, eventing, etc.)</li><li>Contribute to document processing and AI pipelines to improve accuracy, observability, and scalability</li><li>Lead and mentor other engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical design discussions</li></ul><h3> Our Tech Stack</h3>Backend: Python, FastAPI, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Supabase, AWS (S3, Lambda, Textract), and vector-based retrieval for AI workflows Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and a modern component library for clean, performant UX AI &amp; Data: Various AI APIs and embedding-based search Infrastructure: AWS (CDK, IAM, SNS, etc.) with a mix of serverless and managed services for flexibility and scaleWe do not expect you to know everything, but we do expect you to learn quickly, think systemically, and build with quality.<h3>You Might Be a Fit If You</h3><ul><li>Have 5+ years of professional experience building production-grade web or data systems</li><li>Care deeply about mission-driven work and are motivated by building technology that drives real-world climate impact</li><li>Are fluent in TypeScript and Python and have experience with modern backend frameworks</li><li>Are comfortable working with databases, APIs, and asynchronous systems at scale</li><li>Have strong architectural instincts and enjoy designing systems that last</li><li>Thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with a lot of ownership</li><li>Care about building systems that solve real-world problems with clarity and impact</li><li>(Bonus) Have experience with AI/LLM integrations, document processing, or working in regulated or financial environments</li><li>(Bonus) Have experience building financial diligence or transaction platforms such as underwriting, compliance, or deal flow systems</li></ul><h3>Compensation and Benefits</h3><ul><li>Competitive base salary ($125,000–$150,000)</li><li>Milestone and performance-based bonus</li><li>Equity package</li><li>Healthcare benefits (100% medical, dental, and vision)</li><li>Remote work stipends and flexible vacation policy</li></ul><h3>Why Join Us</h3>At Basis Climate, you will join a mission-driven team working to expand access to clean energy tax credits for projects of all sizes.
