Responsibilities / TasksGEA Systems North America, LLC seeks a Process Automation Engineer in Columbia, MD.  Responsibilities: Work effectively within the Pharma North American (NAM) service organization and in alignment with the Core Technology Center (CTC) for the OSD system design, development, manufacturing and installation of automated systems for the North American Pharmaceutical markets; Serves as the technology liaison for our international Business Partners in Wommelgem, Belgium including our software engineering group; supporting customer projects, technical and field service and project related activities for NAM Pharma customers; Develops and upgrades customer specific software using standard engineered modules as well as design best practices for automated OSD forms in alignment with customer expectations and standards with primary focus on automated “Continuous Systems”; Works with the CTCs and our NAM partners to engage in system/software upgrades, retrofits and other system enhancements for customer systems and specific applications; Support all NAM OSD issues that require a SME locally to troubleshoot remotely and/or go onsite to find root cause and necessary resolutions to address and resolve customer issues; Participate in project team development, meetings and regularly reports status for software engineering development and manufacturing processes; Manages, estimates, and reports on times for projects for utilization, billing and costing of projects; Maintain continuous improvement mindset and openly discusses improvements with the automation standardization leadership team in NAM and at the CTC; Conducts review meetings with the customers explaining software architecture, optimization and updates available for customer systems; Executes software developer activities for global customers for assigned projects; Participates in review meetings with other GEA departments outside Wommelgem to standardize the automation processes, development and approach; Develop SOPs and work instructions with the CTCs for designated Field Service Activities where NAM does not have the experience to handle high level software design and development work; Interpret electrical schematics, P&amp;ID’s, System General Arrangements, and other types of technical drawings and specifications to extract the information required for troubleshooting, modifications and enhancements; Review information received from GEA CTC’s and process it into locally useable technical documents and work instructions for field service and customer support; Investigate delivery problems and customer complaints. Produce reports and communications as appropriate to resolve problems and assist with process improvement efforts; Support colleagues when they are in the field at customer sites (e.g. Field Service Technicians and Engineers), by providing or arranging for the provision of information, documents, parts, or any other assistance requested; Follow up with customers and affiliates as required to clarify questions and to obtain the information required to answer them if the information is not in house; and assist with the creation and maintenance of NAM iBase records.Your Profile / QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field (foreign equivalent acceptable), plus 48 months experience in job offered or related software/controls engineering role in the process industry (food, pharma, (petrol) chemical, waste treatment or other related).
