About iGEM:The Queen’s Genetically Engineered Machine (QGEM) Team is the Queen’s University chapter of International Genetic Engineered Machine (iGEM). QGEM is an undergraduate research and design team that uses innovations in the fast-evolving field of synthetic biology to tackle current real-world problems related to medicine, industry, the environment, sustainability, and more. Working with Dr. Christopher Lohans, the team consists of a wet lab team, dry lab team, and an outreach team - all of which are essential to the completion and success of the project. You’ll work closely with professors, students, educational leaders, fellow teammates, and many other stakeholders to make the 2026 project come to life. As a project director, you will design the framework for the 2026 project, and oversee the executive team and all of their operations. It's your job to see the big picture of the project, maintain the timeline, and help out wherever a hand is needed. You will also be the main point of contact with the PI, grants, and the biosafety committee for any experiments you plan to run. You will attend the iGEM conference situated in Paris, France.
