As a <strong>Computer Vision Co-Op</strong>, you'll own the ML models that analyze millions of images from the field, helping utilities prevent blackouts and maintain critical infrastructure. Join our Boston team at <strong>LineVision</strong>—named a Built In Best Place to Work for three consecutive years.</p><p><br></p><h2>What will you do?</h2><p><strong>Core Responsibilities and Key Performance Objectives</strong></p><ul><li>Fine-tune and optimize computer vision models for detecting power grid conditions using data from IoT cameras deployed on transmission towers</li><li>Establish and track model performance metrics as we scale from initial deployments to diverse field environments</li><li>Research and prototype new CV approaches for detecting critical grid conditions</li><li>Build and refine training datasets for object detection and segmentation tasks—from labeling and synthesis to quality control and pipeline optimization</li><li>Build MLOps tools and evaluation frameworks that help the team iterate faster on model improvements</li><li>Collaborate closely with senior data scientists and software engineers to develop your skills in building production computer vision systems</li><li>Communicate technical results to diverse audiences from data scientists to business stakeholders, adapting your explanations to different technical backgrounds</li></ul><h2>What do you need to succeed in this role?</h2><ul><li>Strong Python programming skills and experience applying them to real problems</li><li>Computer vision and ML fundamentals from coursework or personal projects</li><li>Hands-on experience with at least one deep learning framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow)</li><li>Scientific mindset: form hypotheses, validate results, and question unexpected outputs</li><li>Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences</li><li>Rapidly test/evaluate SOTA models using modern libraries (e.g., Huggingface)</li><li>Exposure to production ML systems or object detection/segmentation tasks</li><li>Comfort using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, etc.) to accelerate development</li></ul><h2>Work Schedule</h2><p>The ideal candidate would be available for a minimum of 6 months, up to the full 8 month co-op term, working 40 hours a week.
