As a Market Risk Analyst within Centrica’s Group Financial Risk team, you’ll play a pivotal role in identifying, analysing, and communicating Group-level Market and Credit Risk exposures arising from our activities in commodity markets. Collaborating across all areas of the business, you’ll use Group-level risk models to assess portfolio-level risks and deliver insights that inform C-suite decision-making.You’ll apply your market expertise to support modelling, review new transaction types, and provide ad hoc risk support to Business Units without dedicated Financial Risk functions.Responsibilities of the role:Reporting to the Head of Group Financial Risk, you’ll ensure financial risks across the Group are effectively measured, monitored, and managed. Your responsibilities include:<ul><li>Designing, maintaining, and operating Group-level risk models and methodologies.</li><li>Building strong relationships with Business Unit Risk teams to ensure alignment and collaboration.</li><li>Reviewing and enhancing market risk models and applications across the Group.</li><li>Preparing consolidated financial risk reports for senior leadership, combining Group and Business Unit insights.</li><li>Monitoring compliance with Group-level risk limits across market, liquidity, and credit domains.</li><li>Supporting senior management’s understanding of financial risk exposures.</li><li>Identifying process improvement opportunities aligned with Centrica’s finance transformation agenda.</li><li>Regularly reviewing and updating Group risk policies to reflect business growth.</li><li>Facilitating parental company guarantees for Centrica businesses.</li><li>Providing financial risk expertise to non-trading business units.</li><li>Contributing to the digitisation of risk processes.</li><li>Applying commodity market knowledge to develop stress testing scenarios.</li></ul>Here's what we’re looking for:<ul><li>Experience in commodity price risk management, preferably within the energy sector.</li><li>Strong grasp of risk management techniques (e.g. VaR, stress testing, option theory).</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft tools (e.g. Power BI, Power Query).</li><li>A degree in an analytical or quantitative discipline.</li><li>Knowledge of financial risk governance, reporting, and controls.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.</li><li>Ability to navigate and analyse complex business structures.</li><li>Highly organised, hands-on, and detail-oriented.</li><li>Capable of producing high-quality work with minimal supervision.</li></ul>Why should you apply?       We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place.
