<div><span style="font-size:18px;">Octopus Energy Group is the largest energy supplier for UK householders, serving over 7 million households, and is on a mission to make a big green dent in the universe.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:18px;">Our Gross Margin Assurance team sits at the heart of this, partnering with teams across the business and driving real commercial impact.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:18px;">We are looking for an analytical whizz who blends deep data experience with commercial acumen. </span></div><div><span style="font-size:18px;">Your mission will be to compare complex industry data against our own, meticulously spot variances and nuances, quantify settlement risk, and champion the initiatives that directly drive margin improvements across our billing and settlement lifecycle.</span></div><br><br><h3>What You'll Do:</h3><ul><li>Using industry-leading granular data and superb tooling, you’ll:</li><div><br></div><li> Analyse end-to-end billing and settlement data to identify revenue leakage, over/under-recovery, and portfolio settlement risks; size opportunities and track realised value.</li><li>Build targeted investigations and reconciliations (e.g., billed vs. settled volume, data quality, configuration impacts, consumption anomalies) and prioritise fixes by commercial impact.</li><li>Develop bespoke analysis to support product and operational changes, partnering with Data Engineers to productionise high-value queries and models.</li><li>Collaborate with Industry, Billing, Energy Markets, and Finance teams to design controls and strategies that close gaps (e.g. proactive validations, root-cause remediation, migrations).</li><li>Develop and maintain clear visualisations and reports to story tell in a way that allows senior management to quickly grasp complex issues and collectively make decisions that protect margin and customer outcomes.</li></ul><h3>What You'll Have</h3><ul><li> 3-5 years’ experience in related roles in UK retail energy with hands-on exposure to industry settlement and/or billing data. Specialism in revenue leakage and/or Gas portfolio analysis is a big plus.</li><li>Strong analytical skills, commercial interest, and the ability to distinguish between what matters and what doesn’t</li><li>A proficiency or strong desire to code with SQL (Databricks / Spark). dbt experience is a big plus. Data viz tooling familiarity is welcome.</li><li>A track record of defining use cases, iterating towards solutions, and landing them in production workflows/controls.</li><li>Curious about new and complex areas &amp; excited by a fast-paced, dynamic environment</li><li>Skill in data storytelling—able to present complex industry concepts simply to varied audiences and turn findings into actions.</li><div><br></div><div>We aren’t necessarily looking for someone who is “10-out-of-10” in all these areas; but rather someone who has good experience in most of them, combined with a flexible and enthusiastic approach.</div><div><br></div><div>This is a hybrid role based out of our London office.
