Job DescriptionMechanical (Building services with HVAC and Public Health background), High Rise and Complex, Singapore and MalaysiaThis role is to work as part of an engineering consultancy design team, taking a mid- senior role in project design work, focused on designing, production and liaison with the Singapore and / or Malaysia team and Project leads, Middle East Team and mentoring and coaching junior members of the team. Candidate should also have an experience in client facing.   Responsibilities <ul><li>Prepare feasibility study reports to meet brief requirements in the agreed format and review with the leads </li><li>Work with India &amp; Middle East Team to assemble a design specification compliant with the employers’ requirements, agree its format and content, and monitor and review its preparation ensuring delivery by the due date </li></ul><ul><li>Agree and monitor scope of works with the Head of MEP </li><li>Clearly define building requirements and purpose of use with the MEP Lead and ME Team to allow design process.</li><li>Prepare concept and schematic design reports that should include agreed basis of design, system descriptions, space planning and calculations. </li><li>Carry out detailed design to Building Regulations and relevant Code of Practice and standards ensuring Construction Design and Management (CDM), QA and technical review and sign off by the Discipline Leads, including complex calculations and co-ordination issues. Perform heat load calculations, ventilation and smoke management calculations, ESP / Pressure drop calculations, water supply, storm water and drainage calculations.</li><li>Review and monitor the production of calculations including QA, technical reviews and sign off.</li><li>To provide mark-ups to the BIM / CAD teams and to review and monitor progress of drawing production.</li><li>Review relevant Authority regulations / codes against specific project requirements and implement in design calculations and drawings to the satisfaction and approval of Authorities.</li><li>Ensure that tender documentation is completed and has all the information for project costing completed in requisite detail and to deadlines, and keep the senior Team informed.</li><li>Engage and conduct various progress and technical meetings with internal and external stakeholders to ensure they are well communicated regarding progress and critical decisions if any.</li></ul><ul><li>Provide documentary information via the senior Team to assist in the preparation of tender documents, ensuring that information for tender preparation is completed in requisite detail and to deadlines, and keep the senior Team informed regarding design progress through explanation of design decisions </li><li>Co-ordinate project contracts documents (drawings and specifications) and reviews input from team members </li><li>Deal with the day to day queries from the ME Team, ensuring that relevant information is available on time for construction activity. Review and respond to post design RFIs in timely manner.</li><li>Lead the design process and encourage the rest of the team to deliver appropriate and cost effective solutions to the agreed programme </li></ul><ul><li>Follow in full the document control, archiving CDM and QA processes relevant to project work at every project stage, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports and correspondence are issued, and filed in an appropriate manner, coach junior staff in their usage </li></ul>Technical and Project Management <ul><li>Raise the level of technical competence within the teams </li><li>Implement delivery and quality measurement processes </li><li>Promote technical excellence in all our projects </li></ul><ul><li>Undertake technical reviews, checks and contribute to the concept design </li><li>Provide continuous feedback to the Head of teams on the effectiveness of the protocols and processes in place with a view to continuous improvement </li><li>Develop positive professional relationship with the ME &amp; Client Team, communicating openly about project progress </li><li>Participate in team meetings, disseminate information within the team, and communicate with other teams in REC </li><li>Identify and act on, or refer, potential risk issues and follow in full the company commercial and contracting processes </li></ul><ul><li>Manage delegated tasks to ensure that deadlines are met and flag resourcing concerns to team leader </li><li>Complete timesheet accurately ahead of weekly deadlines </li><li>Assist in elements of financial management </li><li>Deputize for team leader </li></ul>Key Competencies / Skills <ul><li>A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, calculation software related to HVAC and Public health (PH) is essential </li><li>Must be fluent in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology. </li><li>Applicants need to be able to demonstrate good management and technical skills and be capable of working both within the team and independently, as dictated by workload </li><li>Cultural awareness, conscientious and an open mind and excellent communication skills are essential requirements for the role. </li><li>High degree of self-motivation and ability to motivate others. </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to work under pressure and with minimum of supervision </li></ul>Mandatory Skills <ul><li>Should possess membership to an accredited engineering body i.e. MIET, CIBSE,  ASHRAE, IMechE, Singapore and Malaysian local government requirements.</li><li>Excellent working knowledge of ASHRAE, International plumbing code or equivalent, BS, NFPA and good working knowledge of ME codes would be advantageous. </li></ul><ul><li>Prepare heat load calculations – IES, HAP, TRACE </li><li>Knowledge of software like Revit, BIM 360, AutoCAD, MEP &amp; other drafting software’s. </li><li>Magic Cad will be an added highlight. </li></ul><ul><li>Understand the specifications and tender conditions accordingly design. </li><li>Implement cost effective measures for reducing project cost. </li><li>Preparation &amp; Maintenance of design files and documents. </li></ul><ul><li>Capable of discussing with the clients/ consultants/ other agencies to carry out the design activities </li><li>Knowledge about other services like electrical, Fire and life safety etc. to carryout design co-ordination </li><li>Good presentation skills are also required </li><li>Must be fully conversant with technical software, such as IES, HAP.</li><li>Valid passport </li></ul>
