This role is responsible for troubleshooting quality issues on the shop floor, investigating root causes, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with JLG quality and safety standards.As part of the plant start-up team, the Quality Engineer will play a key role in achieving first-pass yield, defect prevention, and stable production ramp-up of scissor lifts for global markets.<div></div>Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThese duties are not all-inclusive; other duties may be assigned.<ul><li>Support quality assurance and control activities across fabrication, welding, paint, assembly, and final inspection for scissor lift production.</li><li>Report and escalate quality issues to supervisors, engineers, and plant leadership with data-based recommendations.</li><li>Partner with operators and production supervisors to resolve in-process quality concerns.</li><li>Conduct in-process and finished product audits in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Perform weld inspections (visual and dimensional), monitor critical dimensions of structural parts, and ensure hydraulic and electrical assemblies meet standards.</li><li>Document and manage nonconforming material reports (NCR/DMR); support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to closure.</li><li>Identify potential supplier-related quality issues and escalate to the Supplier Quality team for follow-up.</li><li>Act as an advocate for first-pass yield, defect-free assembly, and continuous improvement.</li><li>Participate in daily production and quality review meetings.</li><li>Operate or move JLG machines when required to support functional checks and final verification.</li></ul><div></div>Basic Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Quality Engineering (or equivalent technical education).</li><li>Minimum 3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with welding, fabrication, or equipment assembly.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and technical specifications.</li><li>Knowledge of quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, 8D, and root cause analysis.</li><li>Strong problem-solving and communication skills.</li><li>Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.</li></ul><div></div>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Experience supporting a greenfield or new plant launch.</li><li>Exposure to mobile equipment, construction machinery, or automotive manufacturing.</li><li>Experience with weld inspection standards (AWS, ISO, or equivalent).</li><li>Familiarity with hydraulics, electrical harnesses, and safety-critical assemblies.</li><li>Hands-on experience with statistical methods, audits, and continuous improvement programs.</li><li>High ethical standards with a strong commitment to safety and quality.</li></ul><div></div>Working ConditionsThis role is based at the Pune Plant in a manufacturing/production environment and involves:<ul><li>Frequent presence on the shop floor in welding, fabrication, assembly, and testing areas.</li><li>Exposure to noise, welding sparks, paint fumes, moving machinery, and temperature variations.</li><li>Regular use of inspection tools, gauges, and measurement equipment.</li><li>Periods of standing and walking across production areas; occasional bending or climbing to access equipment for inspection.</li><li>Requirement to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, etc.).</li><li>Visual and auditory acuity are needed for inspections and safe communication in a busy plant environment.</li></ul>
