This role is hands-on and focused on the assembly and testing of advanced electromechanical systems, including electric motors, battery systems, and environmental controls.</p><p> </p><p>The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This is an opportunity to directly contribute to building the next generation of VTOL aircraft!</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Collaborate with engineering teams on the design, build, and testing of complex electromechanical systems</li> <li>Assemble and integrate hardware for test stands and aircraft components while maintaining detailed documentation</li> <li>Support the development of new assembly methods, tools, and processes for rapidly evolving designs</li> <li>Ensure quality, safety, and traceability throughout all build processes</li> <li>Provide feedback to design engineers on manufacturability and assembly improvements</li> <li>Build from engineering drawings and CAD models for both new and updated designs</li> <li>Partner with manufacturing and production teams to transition designs into production, including training and process documentation</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>5+ years of industry or directly relevant experience</li> <li>Background in mechanical assembly and systems integration</li> <li>Hands-on experience with high-voltage electrical systems, electric motor assembly/testing, and mechanical assemblies</li> <li>Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-quality environment</li> <li>Strong work ethic, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail</li> <li>Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills</li> <li>Previous experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) or as an engineering technician</li> <li>High school diploma or GED equivalent</li> <li>Ability to lift assemblies up to 50 lbs</li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Experience with high-voltage systems or complex electromechanical systems</li> <li>Knowledge of machining, welding, and general mechanical craftsmanship</li> <li>Experience with instrumentation setup and data collection</li> <li>Working knowledge of CAD and PLM/PDM systems.</li> <li>IPC J-Standard certification</li> <li>Understanding of electric motor functions and components</li> <li>Familiarity with Grafana for system monitoring and Jira for project tracking</li></ul><h2>Additional Information</h2><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of hourly base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target hourly base pay for this position is $36-$50/hr.
