This role requires a willingness to learn and develop a range of knowledge and skills that include executing tests in a flight simulator environment, post-flight analysis, comparison of experimental data to models, and all other tasks related to the development and validation of models for an eVTOL.  </p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Support verification and validation activities that rely on the model outputs </li></ul><ul> <li>Support models development for real-time simulation, performance predictions, and various analyses </li></ul><ul> <li>Develop and improve the software methods behind the modeling tools and workflows  </li></ul><ul> <li>Document models’ correlation and validation against experimental data </li></ul><ul> <li>Work closely with other engineers/teams to determine the required model accuracy </li></ul><ul> <li>Collaborate with test pilots to improve the model fidelity based on feedback from simulator sessions </li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>B.S. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a relevant discipline </li></ul><ul> <li>5-7 years of industry experience or advanced degree (PhD/MS/MEng) in related discipline and 2+ yrs industry experience </li></ul><ul> <li>Excellent problem-solving, software debugging, and communication skills </li></ul><ul> <li>Experience with Python, MATLAB, and Simulink </li></ul><ul> <li>Experience with configuration control and management of models </li></ul><ul> <li>Strong understanding of aircraft and rotorcraft aerodynamics, stability, andcontrol derivatives</li></ul><ul> <li>Ability to work in groups and individually </li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Familiarity with developing and validating 6 degree of freedom (6DOF) nonlinear simulations for aircraft</li> <li>Experience with data processing techniques applied to experimental data, such as data reduction, Kalman filtering/smoothing, etc.</li></ul><ul> <li>Understanding of regression and system identification methods</li> <li>Previous experience in conducting wind tunnel tests and analyzing results to improve and validate simulation models</li></ul><ul> <li>Previous experience working on an aviation certification program</li></ul><p> </p><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $108,000 - $144,000/yr.
