We combine digital innovation with engineering excellence to create solutions that improve connectivity, support economic growth, and promote sustainability.The Opportunity We’re looking for talented and motivated students to join our Transportation business line on an Industrial Placement, where you’ll gain hands-on experience, work on real projects, and develop skills that will kick-start your career.Transportation at AECOM is organised into two main areas:<ul><li>STAP (Streets &amp; Technology, Planning, Highways, Tunnelling, Ports)</li><li>RSGE (Rail, Structures, Ground Engineering)</li></ul>What you’ll do Your role will vary depending on the team you join, but you could be involved in:Streets &amp; Technology<ul><li>Designing and modelling urban streets and junctions using industry-leading software</li><li>Supporting active travel and sustainable transport solutions</li><li>Assisting with the integration of digital technology in transport networks</li></ul>Planning<ul><li>Supporting transport planning and demand forecasting studies</li><li>Conducting feasibility and corridor studies for new transport routes</li><li>Contributing to business cases and policy reviews for infrastructure development</li></ul>Highways<ul><li>Designing and modelling highway alignments and junction improvements</li><li>Preparing geometric designs, drainage systems, and pavement analysis</li><li>Assisting in safety audits and traffic management solutions</li></ul>Tunnelling<ul><li>Supporting tunnel design and analysis for road or rail projects</li><li>Assisting in geotechnical assessments and structural modelling</li><li>Contributing to feasibility studies and construction methodologies</li></ul>Ports<ul><li>Assisting in the planning and design of port infrastructure and marine facilities</li><li>Supporting studies on capacity, layout, and logistics for ports and harbours</li><li>Preparing technical drawings and reports for maritime transport projects</li></ul>Rail<ul><li>Designing and assessing rail infrastructure, including stations and track layouts</li><li>Supporting rail systems integration and alignment design</li><li>Assisting in signalling and electrification interface planning</li></ul>Structures<ul><li>Performing structural design and assessment for bridges and transport-related structures</li><li>Supporting inspections and condition assessments of existing assets</li><li>Preparing structural calculations and design documentation</li></ul>Ground Engineering<ul><li>Supporting ground investigations for transportation projects</li><li>Assisting in foundation and retaining structure design</li><li>Conducting geotechnical analysis for tunnels, bridges, and rail systems</li></ul>
