AECOM is seeking a Wetland Scientist for employment in our Portland, Oregon office. In this role, you will conduct wetland delineations and other field studies related to botany, wetlands, wildlife, and vegetation using geographic information systems (GIS) technology. This is a hybrid role.The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be responsible for projects that involve biological resources inventories and impact analysis; innovative mitigation and conservation planning; multi-disciplinary teamwork with biologists, planners, and restoration ecologists; and creative integration of natural resource analysis and project design.The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, those listed below:<ul><li>Conduct wetland delineations and prepare aquatic resources delineation reports.</li><li>Wetlands permitting (e.g., CWA Section 404 and 401).</li><li>Perform assignments requiring interpretation and application of federal, State, and local environmental regulations.</li><li>Lead wildlife and/or botanical surveys, including vegetation and habitat mapping.</li><li>Conduct special-status species surveys.</li><li>Lead environmental compliance monitoring teams, including coordinating with project managers, engineers, construction contractors and conducting worker environmental awareness programs.</li><li>Gather, analyze, and interpret ecological data, providing support for project reports and recommendations.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of field observations and data collection processes.</li><li>Utilize GIS software to map and analyze spatial data, contributing to habitat assessments and environmental impact studies.</li><li>Work independently and as part of a team; be innovative and a problem solver.</li><li>Ensure assigned tasks stay on schedule and budget.</li><li>Stay informed about current environmental regulations, conservation practices, and scientific advancements in the field.</li></ul>Additional work or opportunities for skills development may include:<ul><li>Conduct review of technical reports prepared by others.</li><li>Preparing and implementing mitigation, restoration, and monitoring plans</li><li>Special-status species permitting (e.g., ESA Section 7 biological assessments; etc.)</li><li>Avian surveys</li><li>Tree inventories. </li></ul>About AECOM’s Environment Business Line Join AECOM to be part of an expert global team who is connected through a well-developed, worldwide, internal technical practice network through which you can learn from and brainstorm with the best in the world.
