Position DetailsThe Digital Analytics Intern will play an important role in helping Appalachian Voices understand how people engage with our mission online. This position will assist with gathering and analyzing insights on visitor traffic, and user behavior and engagement across Appalachian Voices’ websites, social media platforms, and supporter email lists. The intern will help identify trends and recommend strategies to improve the performance of these digital channels. The Digital Analytics Intern will work closely with the Director of Digital Innovation &amp; Technology and the Communications Team to pull monthly and quarterly data, prepare and upload data into our analytics system, assemble reports and presentations on key findings, and share insights and recommendations with staff. The duration of this internship is 12 months, though a six-month term may be arranged for the right candidate. The intern may operate remotely from within the Appalachian region or the DC area, or may work a hybrid schedule from one of our offices (Boone, North Carolina; Charlottesville, Virginia; Knoxville, Tennessee; or Norton, Virginia).  Primary Roles &amp; Responsibilities<ul><li>Collect and analyze data from website analytics tools (primarily Google Analytics and Squarespace)</li><li>Track social media metrics across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube, etc.) and compile monthly summaries</li><li>Analyze email list engagement (open and click-through rates, segmentation trends, unsubscribe patterns, etc.)</li><li>Identify behavior trends, traffic sources, and content performance</li><li>Assist in preparing visual reports or dashboards to present findings to staff</li><li>Research comparable digital strategies to inform recommendations</li><li>Provide actionable insights to improve audience engagement and outreach</li><li>Support other communications and outreach analytics as needed</li></ul> Required Skills &amp; Qualifications<ul><li>Strong analytical and critical thinking skills</li><li>Basic familiarity with website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)</li><li>Understanding of social media metrics and reporting tools</li><li>Comfort with spreadsheets and data visualization (Google Sheets, Excel, or similar)</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret data clearly</li><li>Interest in digital communications, environmental issues or nonprofit advocacy</li><li>Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple projects independently</li><li>Experience with Google's Looker Studio, Search Console, and Tag Manager a plus</li><li>Coursework or experience in communications, data analytics, marketing, or environmental studies is a plus</li></ul> Duration &amp; CompensationThis internship is a part-time, temporary, non-exempt position that will require an average of 10 hours per week, excluding observed holidays.
