This includes the necessary basic and detailed engineering and effective technical support throughout the lifecycle of the projects.  You will be working on a portfolio of projects in the ScottishPower core projects team, and will be contributing to the UK Next Zero TargetWhat you’ll be doing<ul><li>Perform all duties with a strong emphasis on health, safety, quality and environment compliance, innovation and continuous improvement.</li><li>Advise on the development of pre-contract design and delivery of projects by leading/supporting the technical aspects of civil engineering works.</li><li>Prepare basic and detailed engineering specifications for civil engineering works including earthworks, concrete foundations, access roads, steel structures, drainage and buildings associated with the SP Transmission network.</li><li>Define and review civil engineering requirements for input to System Construction Authorisation (SCA), tender documentation and technical specifications.</li><li>Provide technical assessment of tender submissions and report recommendations.</li><li>Prepare/review civil engineering designs including drawings, calculations, models etc.</li><li>Ensure civil engineering designs and construction practices are in accordance with current legislation, policies and operational requirements.</li><li>Provide technical support to Project Unit teams on matters concerning the design and construction of civil/structural elements of the works.</li><li>Maintain an awareness of technological advances and industry best practice. Evaluate and apply ‘new ideas’, technical developments, new equipment and alternative-working methods to provide cost savings, efficiencies and improved safety.</li><li>Contribute to training needs assessment for new products and standards etc and the development and delivery of technical, construction and safety training packages.</li><li>Liaise and coordinate across multi disciplinary engineering teams to provide integrated solutions for SP Transmission. </li></ul>What you’ll bring<ul><li>Degree in Civil, Structural or other related Engineering discipline or HND with relevant experience.</li><li>Incorporated/Chartered Civil Engineer or working towards membership of an appropriate professional body.</li><li>Knowledge of carbon management and sustainability relating to energy sector</li><li>Knowledge of BIM.</li><li>Experience of civil engineering design required for electrical network transmission and distribution projects (earthworks, access roads, drainage, foundations, structures and portal frame buildings).</li><li>Experience working with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Autodesk AEC suite, Staad Pro, TEDDS, Microdrainage.</li><li>Strong inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments and businesses.</li><li>Experience of Health &amp; Safety requirements, in particular, compliance and CDM Designer/Principal Designer roles.</li><li>Knowledge of SP Energy Networks or other industry technical specifications.   </li></ul>What’s in it for you As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
