GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States.The pay range is not guaranteed compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. You may be eligible for additional rewards, such as a discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.The Test Engineer will work closely with Process/Sales Engineers, the Senior Biotechnologist, the New Food Technical Director and the Test Center Manager to develop test equipment configuration and test plans to demonstrate the ability of our process equipment to meet customer requirements.  This position requires working in the ATC team environment where interaction between groups is process driven to achieve on time performance and customer satisfaction.  This position is highly hands-on and requires a mechanical aptitude to not only plan the equipment set-up but also make the adjustments and modifications to the equipment.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:<ul><li>Monitor the operation of pilot plant equipment in conformance with test requirements (bioreactors, fermenters, thermal processing systems (UHT), vacuum mixers, dryers, membrane filtration, aseptic processes, special equipment, utility systems, etc.) making appropriate adjustments per test requirements</li><li>Monitor/repair/assemble test station equipment as directed</li><li>Clean pilot plant and its equipment to maintain good operating order</li><li>Assist in preparing shipping requests, recording shipments, documenting inventory of plant consumables and safety equipment</li><li>Experimental planning, including reconfiguration of equipment and Tech Transfer from customers, to conduct tests/experiments.  Including ordering/managing consumables</li><li>Comply with internal and external QHSE requirements (Including: Training, Waste disposal, record keeping, etc.)</li><li>Support project pre-sale and execution teams as needed</li><li>Collect and organize data on operating conditions and log of operations for use in generating a final test report</li><li>Review and analysis of test results for report generation</li><li>Creation and modification of Pilot Plant SOPs</li><li>Attend trainings, seminars, and professional development as required and available</li><li>Must be able to lift 50 lbs.</li><li>Contribute to team effort by completing all tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor</li></ul>Your Profile / QualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities: <ul><li>Good verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Prior experience with biotechnology or food process equipment is desirable</li><li>Ability to work in a team atmosphere</li><li>Must be able to monitor several operations/factors simultaneously</li><li>Working knowledge of MS Office products required</li><li>Must be able to maintain confidentiality</li></ul>Education and Experience:<ul><li>Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field</li><li>Prefer minimum one-year, hands-on experience in pilot plant operations</li></ul>At GEA, we don’t just offer jobs, we offer opportunities to thrive, grow, and make an impact.#engineeringforthebetterGEA Group is committed to fostering an inclusive work environment where all clients and employees feel welcomed, accepted, and valued. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.Did we spark your interest?
