To establish a deep understanding of wholesale power markets, the battery storage markets, including their competitive landscape and relevant regulations in the market area where Masdar is building presence.To lead market analysis for BESS Commercial team. To define the route to market strategy and setup framework for trading contracts’ structure and negotiations methodology to optimise Masdar’s BESS revenue streams.To advise the team on the ways to incorporate AI and big data into commercial asset management processes.Responsibilities<ul><li>Must have a comprehensive overview of BESS markets</li><li>Build a knowledge base of the fundamentals of electricity markets, comprising of the wholesale power markets, competitive landscape, pertinent regulatory developments and their evolution, for BESS markets globally, especially those markets where Masdar has a presence or is expected to have a presence in the future. This will include understanding of the different battery storage revenue streams (including specifics of RES support schemes, PPA's, capacity markets, ancillary services etc).</li><li>Understand the impact of changes to regulatory frameworks and energy market designs and quantifying the effects of those changes on revenue.</li><li>Build internal market intelligence of the BESS markets and develop modelling capabilities to reduce reliance on external market advisors.</li><li>Contribute to the development and embedding of BESS strategy in line with Masdar's vision, mission, and long term goals.</li><li>Keep abreast of any changes, analyse and present BESS market updates/highlights to senior management.</li></ul>Market modelling and analysis<ul><li>Understand, analyse and provide commercial inputs for business models built to underpin and drive financial and investment decision making.</li><li>Analyse short/medium/long-term developments in various power markets based upon a thorough understanding of market fundamentals, regulatory developments, renewable penetration, storage growth, etc.</li><li>Interpret and own analysis of any third party revenue curves and assumptions provided to Masdar as part of normal course of business, but also specifically as part of M&amp;A transactions.</li><li>Manage modelling and analysis of BESS related market assessments.</li></ul>Development of monetisation strategies<ul><li>Create and manage country specific monetisation strategies to maximise the revenues to Masdar, taking into account risk, credit, accounting, tax considerations etc.</li></ul>Management reporting for projects<ul><li>Liaise with energy storage teams to provide management reports on projects throughout the entire lifecycle.</li><li>Track performance of both developing and operational projects, ensure regular updates, management reporting and focus on deviations from targeted plans and performance.</li><li>Contribute to the development and delivery of projects by providing advice and inputs from a business development perspective, liaise with project delivery and technical teams to ensure all project objectives are met.</li></ul>Reporting and application of data/AI toolsUsing big data and AI tools, develop BESS reporting strategy with a focus on:<ul><li>Asset performance</li><li>Trading performance</li><li>BESS LTSA (availability, RTE, capacity testing etc)</li><li>Asset Management / O&amp;M</li></ul>
