Since 2008, 8 Rivers projects, inventions, and business model innovations have caused investments of nearly $500 million.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY – Clean Energy Business Development Associate

8 Rivers’ technology is accelerating the clean energy transition. 8 Rivers is looking for a business development / sales leader with a proven track record of revenue generation, relationship building, and partnerships across a diverse set of product offerings.

 

More specifically, the focus of the Clean Energy Business Development Associate will include, but not be limited to:

  • Generate revenue through sales of clean energy services, technology licenses, clean power contracts, and clean fuels contracts
  • Develop materials for sales meetings with customers and clients (existing and prospective)
  • Research and produce insights as related to prospective customers/clients
  • Practice one-to-one sales/marketing sales strategies
  • Maintain an awareness and knowledge of power, CO2, H2, NH3, and clean fuel projects and trends across the world
  • Engage the market and build relationships with key potential clients and partners
  • Successfully close/win proposals, MoUs, LOIs etc. with customers/clients/partners
  • Ability and willingness to travel globally
  • Produce compelling written materials and slide decks for both internal and external audiences based off of strategy research, analysis, and insight

Qualified applicants should possess the following capabilities or characteristics:

  • Proven track record of generating revenue
  • Minimum 5 years background in strategic projects, energy, project development, investment banking, marketing/sales, business development or other functions
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or chemistry related disciplines, MBA or a Masters in a technical field would be beneficial
  • Business acumen, proactive and positive attitude, result driven
  • Strong ability in using Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Working knowledge of technology in chemicals (H2, NH3, MeOH, ethylene), clean energy, sustainability, and industrial systems
  • Experience of successfully initiating, developing, and partnering with, and influencing clients and other key industry stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in commercial contracting models
  • Strong communication and networking skills with ability to drive collaboration across 8 Rivers
  • Credibility with customers and key stakeholders within the sector
  • Entrepreneurial and open-minded regarding structuring deals
  • Exhibit superb critical thinking and problem-solving skills; the right candidate will have a proven ability to grasp “big picture” concepts as well as granular complexities
  • Voracious learners able to quickly gain expertise in previously unfamiliar topics
  • Self-motivated, willing to travel intensively
  • Excellent communication skills across functions and regions. Strong teamwork spirit and able to excel in a matrixed organization
  • Strong willingness to learn/understand regional differences
  • Strong capability to make judgment (analytical skills) and make proposals
  • Capability to translate general trends into potential impact on I&P business areas. Sensitive to new requirements / new business opportunities from daily communications internal & external.
  • Creative thinking in new / differentiated ways, and open-minded in discussion of different opinions
  • General market knowledge about the industries & application of I&P products, including value chains, major players of upstream, downstream and direct competition including system competition.
  • Solid knowledge / good understanding of business financial concepts.
