This Metrology Quality Engineering role is responsible for the development, implementation, and verification of metrological inspection systems, methods, and processes at Joby Aviation.</p><p> </p><p>The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inspection systems, metrology, part/jig verification, measurement system analyses and GD&amp;T. We are looking to expand this team with like-minded individuals looking to make a mark in the transportation industry.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li><p>Participate in design for manufacturability reviews to ensure dimensional inspection requirements are understood and achievable.</p></li> <li><p>Validate, interpret, analyze, and communicate inspection data to cross-functional teams.</p></li> <li><p>Identify the need for inspection fixtures and support in the design and validation of the fixture.</p></li> <li><p>Develop inspection processes, methods and procedures.</p></li> <li><p>Investigate advanced metrology methods, including multi-sensor CMMs, non-contact inspection systems, and advanced sensors and gaging methods.</p></li> <li><p>Perform inspections as necessary to complete studies and validation activities</p></li> <li><p>Support Quality Engineering and Manufacturing to investigate complex dimensional variation impacting overall assembly quality.</p></li> <li><p>Work with manufacturing during the development of the dimensional controls to ensure the objectives of engineering functionality and manufacturing requirements are balanced.</p></li> <li><p>Develop and coordinate capability studies and measurement systems; interpret data and provide recommendations.</p></li></ul><p> </p><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related field.</li> <li>Minimum 2 years experience in a Quality/Metrology/Inspection focused role.</li> <li>Experience troubleshooting issues during measurement and inspection.</li> <li>Strong mechanical skills or background.</li> <li>Experience with Polyworks and Faro products.</li> <li>Proficient in CAD systems.</li> <li>Working level of proficiency in interpretation and application of ASME Y 14.5M-2009.</li> <li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills</li> <li>Working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly practices.</li></ul><p> </p><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Measurement Systems Analysis Experience</li> <li>Experience with inspection system development</li> <li>ASME Y14.5 senior certified GDTP S-0650</li> <li>Experience with Catia V5/V6</li> <li>Working knowledge of tooling / functional gaging practices.</li></ul><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $77,600 - $133,400/yr.
