Job Description:Mechanical Design Engineer, Product DevelopmentRoles and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Drive projects from conceptualization till production. Should have the ability to capture and specify the design requirements and the development and validation needed to deliver successful systems, products, and components to meet/exceed the customer’s specifications.</li><li>To think creatively to develop new/improved solutions and Identify and implement design improvements (functionality, cost, design for manufacture)</li><li>Execute capacity and serviceability checks: axial/lateral/torsion, bearing, settlement, uplift, down drag, corrosion/durability, frost/scour where applicable</li><li>Carry out soil–structure interaction analyses (e.g. p–y methods for lateral pile response, group effects, tip restraint, liquefaction screening at a high level)</li><li>Prepare concise geotechnical interpretative reports, calculation packages, sketches/drawings, and construction recommendations</li><li>Good eye for small details</li><li>Provide the engineering support for design, development or optimization of products by collaborating with necessary teams.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product management and NPI teams) to form an integrated design.</li><li>Engage with suppliers in DFM discussions.</li><li>Reviewing quality documents (PPAP, FAI reports) and support manufacturers for any engineering concerns.</li><li>Excellent prioritization and project development skills</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Master’s Degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering is preferred.</li><li>3-5 years related in geotechnical engineering experience with strong understanding of the engineering principles and methodologies. </li><li>Prior experience of driving and launching products involving all aspects of product development cycle.</li><li>Experience with Solid Works or equivalent in drafting, modelling, fixture design detailing practices, GD&amp;T, tolerance stack up analyses.</li><li>Good software skills in MATLAB, Python , and FEA</li><li>Ability to establish and develop DFMEA for new products.</li><li>Preferred knowledge of steel manufacturing processes like sheet metals, castings and plastics</li><li>Excellent prioritization and project development skills</li><li>Process oriented designer with good engineering management skills.</li></ul>At Nextpower, we are driving the global energy transition with an integrated clean energy technology platform that combines intelligent structural, electrical, and digital solutions for utility-scale power plants.
