Job Description

Solar power is the largest source of new energy in the world. Raptor Maps is a fast-growing, venture-backed, MIT-born climate tech startup that is building software to enable the solar energy industry to scale. Parties across the entire solar lifecycle use Raptor Maps’ data model to manage ever growing utility-scale solar portfolios. We are an industry leader with hundreds of customers, including owners, builders, operators, and aerial service providers, across over 40 countries with 200+ million solar panels under management. Our software platform is essential in the fight against climate change.
We’re seeking a PR, communications, email and social media strategist and marketer who can bring their passion and interest in business, technology and solar energy to Raptor Maps.  This role is a blend of publicity / PR / public relations, communications and marketing.  

Responsibilities

  • Manage all PR and media outreach across print, podcasts and other channels.
  • Maintain and continuously grow our media contact list. 
  • Identify and develop relationships with external thought leaders.
  • Manage all social media including identifying and working with industry influencers.
  • Manage and write email newsletters.
  • Determine and execute a communications plan designed to attract sales leads and help them convert.
  • Grow our number of e-newsletter and social followers.
  • Help drive organic search results through third-party backlinks. 
  • Ensure that strategic keywords are included in press releases and communications.
  • Locate and submit to awards.
  • Become an expert in all things solar energy.
  • Pitch stories that differentiate Raptor Maps and tie in with topical, industry trends. 
  • Write press releases and other content. 
  • Ensure all content aligns with Raptor Maps’ marketing strategy, brand attributes and tone of voice.  
  • Identify outstanding imagery to associate with content and social posts, including conceptualizing visually innovative ways to present data and craft infographics.
  • Use data to determine which communications perform best and make future recommendations based on learnings. 
  • From time to time, conceive of and write thought leadership, blog posts, case studies, white papers, presentations, website pages, etc., much of which can be technical in nature. 
  • From time to time, help research other miscellaneous ideas for attracting qualified leads that may not be related to publicity.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks related to marketing.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of PR experience including a track record of obtaining media placements in top tier, national publications.
  • Ideally someone who brings a substantial list of media contacts and who already has relationships with a fair amount of publications.
  • Experience with Twitter, LinkedIn, Slideshare and other top social channels.  
  • Uncanny knack for growing social audiences.
  • Understanding of common publicity and marketing tactics.
  • Ability to research and quickly understand new and rapidly evolving technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills - comfortable with data and numbers.
  • Outstanding ability to write succinct, easy to skim and engaging copy.
  • Excellent English language grammar and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously.
  • Strong oral communication skills. 
  • Integrity and strong work ethic. 
  • Comfortable in a remote (work from home) environment.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in energy, renewable energy or solar energy.
  • Experience at a top national PR firm.
  • Fluent in Spanish, German, French or Italian.
