Job Description

Electrum is seeking an ambitious utility partnership leader to join our Business Development team.  The Senior Director of Utility Partnerships will be responsible for cultivating new utility relationships, creating mutually profitable partnerships, and utilizing their expertise in the field to assist in the development and optimization of  Electrum product strategies in order to maintain our position as a leader in the home electrification market.  As the subject matter expert of energy and utility partnerships, the ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the dynamics of the utilities and residential energy industry and be active in the legislative and regulatory environment within our regions. The Senior Director of Utility Partnerships is a proven relationship builder and a self-motivated team player with the ability to add value to every conversation, not only as a representative of Electrum but as a means of securing new business, nurturing existing relationships, and developing strategic partnerships.  In our dynamic start-up environment, the Senior Director of Utility Partnerships will be eager to find creative solutions as well as implement proven tactics that lead to partnerships and build our sales pipeline. As the Electrum footprint expands, this position will continue to grow, take on new and exciting challenges, and lead new strategic initiatives within the company.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prospect new partnerships, nurture warm leads, launch growth initiatives, and support the needs of existing partnerships
  • Development of account plans as delivering on revenue objectives
  • Secure all revenue-generating contracts with utility clients—leading negotiations with the client, presenting and delivering final contracts for new programs, extensions, rebids, and program expansions
  • Enthusiastically build their own pipeline through the external representation of Electrum at various industry trade associations such as SEPA and AESP, attend strategic meetings,  conferences, and other industry events, work with channel partners, RFP responses, and the implementation of strategic initiatives to acquire revenue-generating partners
  • Customize new and pre-existing sales collateral for external use, including but not limited to, presentations, proposals, case studies, performance reports
  • Win new partnerships and drive significant revenue growth for the organization
  • Nurture and strengthen existing partner relationships, identify new opportunities, and expand Electrum into new verticals and territories 
  • Deepen relationships with existing channel partners to implement programs for utilities in target markets
  •  Accelerate Electrum’s growth as an electrification market leader through an understanding of the markets and the development of internal strategies to meet market demands
  • Collaborate with Electrum’s Product Development team to implement and execute GTM strategies
  • Perform market research to inform key strategic company decisions and initiatives
  • Track relevant regulatory developments in key markets to support Electrum’s electrification goals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 3-5+ years of relevant experience in energy and/or utility sales, specifically selling into utilities
  • Deep experience in the consumer energy industry and knowledge of its language and strategic direction (solar / energy storage / DERs / HPWH / EVSE / electrification / electric utility consumer programs etc)
  • Significant experience in public speaking in person and virtually, in front of both small and large groups 
  • Hunter and Closer mentality; ready to uncover opportunities through innovation and excellent communication skills; a natural thought leader that is persuasive, decisive with a strong sense of urgency; direct with tact and empathy, and are focused on results
  • Lifelong learner with an adaptive mindset and are willing and able to shift priorities as the business needs grow and change
  • Natural ability to make a positive impression and impact on other areas of the business and  partner, collaborate, and influence cross-functionally
  • Strong sales hygiene with strong organization skills, experience working within a CRM, and knows that the close is in the details
  • Accountable for the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with limited guidance Strong work ethic and desire to contribute to the larger goals and initiatives of Electrum
