Job Description

The Role:Pachama is looking for a Forest Analyst to join our team to help assess and develop forest carbon projects. The Forest Resource Analyst would partner with our Science Operations team to use data and technology to derive insight about forests worldwide. They would run processes to support evaluation and monitoring of existing carbon projects as well as support our origination team in determining qualification of new carbon projects.
You would be excited about this role if you are ready to roll-up your sleeves in a fast-paced team. You have experience with forestry measurements and comfort with remote sensing data. And most importantly, you have an appetite to learn more about the space quickly. 
Location:This role is remote with a preference for being within 3 hours of Pacific time. Under normal conditions, this role requires some travel as well as travel for periodic team offsites. Please note, there is no regular field work associated with this role.

What You Will Help Us With:

  • Execute monitoring processes including analyzing data, deriving insights, and communicating details
  • Execute parcel evaluation workflows using remote tools to support our origination team
  • Support evaluation of third-party forest carbon projects using Pachama technology
  • Support data collection processes and organize information
  • Provide ad hoc support for the science operations team

Experience & Skills We're Looking For:

  • Knowledge of forestry and forest mensuration
  • Experience with QGIS, ArcGIS, and other spatial analysis  tools
  • Experience with database and data management
  • Exposure to and ideally some experience with Python (coding not required)
  • Willingness to learn new topics and tackle projects big and small
