Job Description

We are seeking a strategic and engaging Social Media Intern to collaborate with AnthInst team members on the SpaceshipOne project (https://spaceshipone.org/). The intern will assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns related to SpaceshipOne’s four content pillars: climate change, clean energy, public health, and environmental justice. 

The Social Media Intern will work primarily with the SpaceshipOne Founder, Co-Captain, and Environmental Health Intern, and will have ample opportunities for further professional development, such as writing blog articles, public speaking, and collaborating with other Anthropocene team members on a diverse range of projects, such as air quality, numeracy, and cold fusion energy.

Role: Social Media Intern | SpaceshipOne

  • Create visual assets and draft copy for social media posts. 
  • Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and scalable pathways.
  • Manage the online community (e.g. respond to messages, etc.) and actively foster engagement to grow follower count.
  • Plan and carry out outreach strategy for engaging smaller organizations and influencers through content cross-promotion for intersecting audiences.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with using social media platforms (primarily Instagram and Twitter) in a professional capacity.
  • Skill in content creation (e.g. graphic design and copywriting) for the purposes of social media/ marketing and fostering online community engagement.
  • Coursework or relevant work experience related to one or more of the following areas: climate change, clean energy, public health, and/or environmental justice. 
  • Familiarity with social media analytics software (e.g. Meta Insights) to track audience engagement and campaign performance.
  • Comfort working in a multi-time-zone setting that leverages cloud-based platforms for work activities and communications, including Notion and Slack. (Experience with these particular platforms is not necessary, but helpful.)

 

Compensation 

This is a part-time position (less than 20 hours per week) compensated at $1250 per month. Anthropocene offers flexible schedules to accommodate personal obligations.
