We are looking for a  Sr Stress Analyst to join our team. As part of a mechanical engineering team, you will be responsible for performing structural analysis for mechanical systems using strength of materials and finite element based methods and generate system loads and stress analysis reports. This is a hands-on position that involves all aspects of structural analysis, including: configuration development and trade studies, developing novel and efficient approaches to challenging analysis problems, supporting material allowables testing, authoring detailed analysis reports, supporting test development, performing post-test analysis correlation. You will be responsible for providing analytical support for preliminary & detailed design, through development, validation, certification and manufacturing & operational service.


Required:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience with Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT) analysis methods and tools and demonstrated proficiency in applying those for both metallic and composite parts
  • 2+ years of experience performing structural analysis using classical hand calculations and finite element analysis
  • Experience in fatigue spectrum definition and generation process 
  • Familiarity with high and low cycle fatigue testing for generation of S-N data, validation of fatigue performance and material crack growth rates
  • Strong understanding of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals, mechanics of materials and strength of materials
  • Experience in sizing of composite structures
  • Experience with correlating analysis against subscale & full-scale testing
  • Ability to function independently with limited supervision
  • Work collaboratively with design and manufacturing to provide with optimized design solutions

Desired:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in finite element modeling & analysis of geometrically complex components & assemblies which spans static & dynamic analysis.
  • Experience working in a product development environment is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully using the following: NASGRO/AFGROW
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully using the following: Ansys/Nastran  and Hypermesh/Femap/Patran. Experience with other finite element solvers and pre & post processors will also be considered
  • Familiarity with material coupon, component and/or vehicle level fatigue and damage tolerance testing
  • Strong structural analysis experience with composite materials 
  • Embrace learning, be curious, organized & methodical and pay attention to detail
  • Familiarity with aircraft certification and aerospace best practices and standards
  • Experience working within large assembly environments strongly preferred
  • Hands on experience building prototypes and running tests
