Job Description

About Wunder

Wunder is building a Modern Energy Company.

We were founded with one simple vision: to address the greatest crisis of our generation by accelerating the deployment of solar energy. In doing so, we help businesses, municipalities, and schools save money by delivering clean on-site power. We convert simple warehouses into electrified industrial platforms built for the future. We enable the nation’s leading commercial and industrial real estate firms to capture the benefits of solar across their properties. We align ESG goals with revenue targets, and the renewable energy assets we’re deploying today will power America’s tomorrow.

Wunder currently holds more than $1 billion in solar assets under management and capital commitments. Our team has evaluated more than 10,000 properties for solar across all 50 states. Our average solar system - about 480 kilowatts in size - can offset 350,000 pounds of coal burned each year of system operation!

The Role

We have an amazing opportunity for a creative, curious, and impact-oriented Product Manager to join our team and operate at the intersection of technology, finance, and renewable energy. As a Product Manager at Wunder, you’ll be on a fast and lean team working across the entire spectrum of the software development process. From identifying the next big user problem to tackle, helping design the solution, overseeing and unblocking the development process, and rolling out the new feature to users, you’ll see it all. You’ll be responsible for tackling some of the most complex business and technical challenges that climate-tech  has to offer (e.g., programmatic risk mitigation, large high-frequency financial transactions, distributed asset management, workforce efficiency, customer experience). This role needs deep domain expertise (which you’ll learn on the job), creative problem solving, analytical savviness, as well as  the ability to bring together stakeholders to drive the greatest impact for the team.

If you’re looking to build the next iPhone app for teenagers or the next SaaS product for agencies, this role isn’t for you. But if you obsess about your users (at Wunder, they’re often your teammates), are passionate about solving complex problems on a daily basis, and want to fight climate change, then this is the role for you!

About You

  • Experience in Product Management - You have at least 5 years of experience working in the software industry and have had  significant responsibility as a product manager for at least 2 years. You know what it takes to understand the complexities of a product, are ready and willing  to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency in Wunder’s processes, and are excited about building out entirely new features.

  • You’re Steady,  Eager, and Ready to Ask Questions - You’ve done this before, so you’re ready for a steep ramp up period where you’ll get deeply involved with how the product works and how your users are using it. You are naturally curious and can’t rest until you understand the “why” behind every detail of the business.

  • You’re Here to Solve Problems - You are great at finding, exploring and synthesizing complex problems, observing trends, envisioning a long-term solution, and identifying the path to getting there. We use a loose version of the Shape Up approach to work scoping and roadmap definition. Therefore, to be a successful PM at Wunder, you need to have excellent written communication skills and an eagerness to argue for new ideas, process feedback, and iterate on solutions.

  • You’re Technically-Minded - You love taking business problems and translating them into engineering challenges. You’re comfortable working directly with software engineers, and independently managing in-development projects. In other words, you speak fluent Engineer and are very comfortable being the interpreter between their team and the Wunder user.

  • No Ego - No job is too small, and you’re excited about rolling up your sleeves, working alongside functional teams, and sometimes personally “turning the crank” to figure out how to build the engine. You firmly believe that to build the right solution you have to be intimately familiar with the problem space.

  • You Have a Team Ethos - You thrive in a creative, inventive, fast-paced rapid-growth environment, with people who are passionate about their work and mission. You’re not just excited to work cross-functionally, you crave it.

  • You’re Flexible, a Quick Responder - The problem we’re trying to solve as an organization is dynamic and each day brings fresh and exciting challenges. You can react quickly and efficiently when called upon to change or pivot.

  • You Believe That No Problem is Too Hard - In an industry where people are constantly stuck, we find ways to get it done. You know how to articulate and roll out solutions, recognizing there are many solutions to the same problem. You find new and effective ways to streamline and create processes to increase efficiency.
