Job Description

About Wunder

Wunder is building a Modern Energy Company.

We were founded with one simple vision: to address the greatest crisis of our generation by accelerating the deployment of solar energy. In doing so, we help businesses, municipalities, and schools save money by delivering clean on-site power. We convert simple warehouses into electrified industrial platforms built for the future. We enable the nation’s leading commercial and industrial real estate firms to capture the benefits of solar across their properties. We align ESG goals with revenue targets, and the renewable energy assets we’re deploying today will power America’s tomorrow.

Wunder currently holds more than $1 billion in solar assets under management and capital commitments. Our team has evaluated more than 10,000 properties for solar across all 50 states. Our average solar system - about 480 kilowatts in size - can offset 350,000 pounds of coal burned each year of system operation!

The Role

We have an amazing opportunity for an energetic, deal-oriented, and experienced solar development professional to solve hard problems and push renewable energy forward. Our solar project development team is rapidly acquiring commercial customers and developing solar across the country alongside our national network of solar partners.  Specifically, you’ll work in partnership with Wunder’s Account Management team to develop commercial-scale solar projects across the country. You'll go beyond a traditional development role as you will also bring standardization into the untapped sub-megawatt commercial and industrial market by leveraging Wunder’s industry-leading technology platform.(If you’re the type of candidate that we’re looking for, your ears just perked up!)

If you get excited about unlocking the untapped commercial and industry market, joining a team designed for hyper-growth, closing million-dollar deals every week, and building an organization aimed at saving the world, then this is the role for you.

About You

  • Solar Experience - You have 4-6 years of solar project development experience, ideally in commercial, industrial, or utility-scale markets. You have a firm grasp on the development process, including the pitfalls to avoid and the ingredients required for success. You have experience overseeing the preparation and submission of permitting and interconnection applications, and you have taken many deals to NTP and PTO, and you’ve completed all the steps it takes to get projects over the line

  • You’re Deal-Oriented & Detail Oriented - You have a successful track record of repeatedly prospecting, developing, and closing complex solar transactions.  You have a development pedigree you’re proud of and are excited about closing C&I solar transactions at scale. You’re excited about standardizing these processes and efficiently tracking all the details to achieve milestones on time and on budget in order to close C&I deals at scale.

  • You Have a Numbers Oriented, Quantitative Mind - You’re comfortable in a spreadsheet and you don’t bat an eye when talking about Credit, NPV, ROI, IRR, etc. You're well versed in making presentations that require heavy quantitative explanations and love explaining the model you’ve been working on to people who might not have the same quantitative caliber.

  • You Have a Product Mindset - You’re not looking for a traditional development role. You’re excited about using technology to standardize commercial solar, and you’re eager to partner with Product & Engineering to shape our technology strategy for years to come. The idea of building out standardization of this industry gets you jazzed and you’re already contemplating some initial ideas.

  • You are an Autonomous Executor - You’re self-motivated and outspoken about what is needed to get a job done, and you love to get your hands dirty. You take a high-motor approach to execution and you aggressively work to reduce risk and get ahead of problems before they impact project timelines. In other words, you like to GET. IT. DONE.

  • You Have a Team Ethos - You thrive in a creative, inventive, fast-paced rapid-growth environment, with people who are passionate about their work and mission. You’re not just excited to work cross-functionally, you demand it.

  • You’re Flexible, a Quick Responder - The problem we’re trying to solve as an organization is dynamic and each day brings fresh and exciting challenges. You can react quickly and efficiently when called upon to change or pivot.

  • You Believe That No Problem is Too Hard - In an industry where people are constantly stuck, we find ways to get it done. You know how to articulate and roll out solutions, recognizing there are many solutions to the same problem. You find new and effective ways to streamline and create processes to increase efficiency.

  • You’re Travel-Friendly - You have the ability to spend time in-person with customers and travel as needed (~10%).
