Job Description

Wildlife Works is the world's leading REDD+ Project development and management company with an innovative, market-based approach to climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation. Over its 20+ year history, Wildlife Works established a successful model that uses the emerging carbon offset marketplace to protect threatened forests and wildlife, while funding indigenous and forest-dwelling communities. REDD+ allows us to partner with communities from tropical forest countries to monetize their forest and biodiversity assets, whether they are communities, land ownership groups or governments. Wildlife Works manages a portfolio of current and prospective REDD+ projects throughout the tropics and is growing to meet market demand and interest in our innovative approach.

With offices and employees in seven countries and growing, Wildlife Works is looking to fill this newly created role that will report directly to the Wildlife Works Head of Finance but works closely with the Global Accounting Manager and Regional Directors. The Manager of FP&A will be responsible for the annual budget process and quarterly budget vs actual reports by region, country and project as well as at the corporate level. Wildlife Works plans to hire four Financial Coordinators, two for Africa, one for Latin America, and one for Asia. The Manager of FP&A will be expected to assist with, build out and oversee this FP&A team.

Position Summary:

Key will be to have an analytical mind; an ability to communicate large amounts of data to senior business leaders; experience in financial statement modeling, budgets and cash forecasts in excel or other financial planning tools, ability to work autonomously but also to be part of multiple teams; a demonstrated ability to perform financial analysis and planning functions across multiple and related entities, and report summary results to leadership, will make a candidate successful in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversee financial planning and analysis for the US parent company and global subsidiaries
  • Planning, Budgeting and Forecast
    • Develop and oversee project, subsidiary, and corporate level budgets and forecasts on a quarterly and annually basis
    • Plan and model global headcount requirements and costs, coordinating with global, regional and country HR directors
    • Manage high level corporate financial forecast models to provide an integrated set of financial statements based on project, country and global assumptions
    • Prepare cash forecast on a monthly basis
  • Reporting
    • Prepare regional and corporate financial reporting packages for the company Board of Directors, investors, major customers and global management team, including variance analysis to forecast and budget
  • Analysis
    • Manage and further develop project investment models for new projects
    • Analyze and model optimal corporate structures as provided by outside tax and accounting consultants
    • Assist Director of Global Logistics as needed on special projects and major CAPEX initiatives
    • Eventually develop reporting metrics and perform sensitivity analyses to assess range of outcomes on the corporate financial statement model under different prices, volumes, exchange rates and other variables
    • Responsible for or supports project financial reporting and analysis requirements for
      • new project investments
      • regional or project specific financing
      • inventory financing
      • community, government and local reporting
  • Work collaboratively with US and international accounting staff, in particular the Head of Global Accounting:
    • to ensure forecasts and budgets at the subsidiary and corporate level accurately reflect GAAP
    • to support compliance with global accounting policies and understanding of local requirements that may impact parent company profitability
  • Build and manage a team of FP&A Analysts located globally
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, MBA preferred
  • 6 + years work experience in financial planning & analysis, accounting, investment banking, consulting, and/or corporate finance
  • 2 + years of people management experience in a corporate financial planning and analysis group
  • Excel mastery and proven experience in building strong financial models required; preferably experience building financial statement models for subsidiaries and parent companies; strong underrating of the operating decision on all three financial statements
  • Good project and time management skills,
  • Ability to work under pressure and within short time constraints while balancing attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse, international growth environment; proficiency in French and/or Spanish a plus
  • The ability to travel internationally at least 4 times per year, often to isolated and remote locations in the Global South

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate but can be higher when traveling.
