We are backed by top VC firms and our groundbreaking technology is based on work done by researchers at Stanford Univer Do you want to learn about and work on this critical part of the future energy economy?  QuantumScape is seeking an Associate  Process Engineer - Associate  Member Technical Staff (AMTS) to join the Separator Engineering - Process Development team whose primary focus is to help drive pilot line scale-up activities with design engineering, facilities, and equipment suppliers to optimally install, and commission new process lines and support development of new processing techniques to increase product performance and reliability. 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own and continuously improve stacking, sintering and product quality processes
  • Define performance requirements and technical specifications to develop new processing methods to improve performance and/or form factors aligned with our technology roadmap
  • Test hypothesis by applying your knowledge of engineering statistics and design of experiment concepts to methodically plan and execute process experiments and yield conclusive results
  • Analyze and optimally communicate your results to management
  • Develop and maintain drawings, operating procedures and work instructions
  • Develop sintering and product stacking processes and establish requirements and physical specifications
  • Understand the critical product requirements at different process stages and derive vital process variables that drive improvement to product quality
  • Establish documentation and procedures for product sampling, product testing, product data tracking systems for continuous processes
  • Maintain process log and work to track changes during shifts that have an influence on product quality
  • Establish equipment calibration standards and maintain to ensure data repeatability
  • Establish and maintain product quality testing and classifications of defects
  • Coordinating with other processes functions upstream and downstream and identifying areas of improvement for improving process and product yield
  • Identify process deviations and identify projects to improve the CPVs for yield improvement
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis software JMP and/ or Minitab preferred

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in materials science, ceramic, chemical engineering, mechanical or related engineering and science fields
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience developing, characterizing, and trouble-shooting a process using process-related equipment
  • Keen interest in a manufacturing or development engineering role where you would play a crucial role in high-temperature manufacturing and/or commissioning of startup processes

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • MS or higher degree in ceramic, chemical, or electrical engineering
  • Proven track record in a manufacturing or development engineering role for 3+ years where you played a crucial role in high-temperature manufacturing and commissioning of startup processes
  • Experience with at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, R, Matlab, JMP, etc.)
  • Exposure to Design of Experiments (DOE) style experimentation and statistical analysis of data
  • Experience in Lean six sigma analysis and defining CPVs for improving yield
  • Experience in QMS, quality engineering tools such as measurement system analysis, Gage R&R, SPC, process control plan, traceability systems, process capability analysis
  • Experience working within operations and/or manufacturing teams
  • Knowledge of high-temperature measurement systems, establishing temperature profiles, managing a controlled process environment, ability to read field data and in-depth process analysis is necessary for this position
  • Experience in leading process technicians
