Job Description

SparkCharge designs, manufactures, and sells portable DC to DC charging systems for electric vehicles. The Lead Test Engineer will be leading the Test Engineering team developing the next generation of portable electric vehicle charges. You will work closely with the electrical, systems, mechanical and power electronics teams to guarantee product success. The Lead Test Engineer will oversee the Test team and help develop junior engineers. This position will report to the Director of Engineering.

  • Drive the creation of component, sub-assembly, completed assembly, and manufacturing End Of Line testing processes in Somerville, MA and Buffalo, NY.
  • Design and build test fixtures for individual PCB, sub-system performance validation.
  • Write basic firmware programs to run test fixtures, and organize the test data.
  • Create and drive test processes throughout all stages of development, assisting other departments in validating their prototypes and proof of concepts.
  • Debug and repair PCBs, sub-system, and test fixture failures, using your soldering skills when needed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of vehicle communication protocols like CHAdeMO, CCS, CAN.
  • Manage interoperability testing for EVs from all OEMs
  • Drive life cycle testing for SparkCharge products.
  • Research certification agency requirements (UL, ETL, CE, IEC, etc). Select those which apply to Company products and create test plans for them.
  • Mentor and grow more junior test engineers
  • Assist the Director of Engineering in creating yearly department budgets
  • Specify and maintain functional lab equipment. Manage the Company’s R&D Lab.

Requirements

Candidates MUST have:

Additional “Plus” Experiences include:

Experience using PCB schematic capture and layout tools like Altium

Experience using CAD software like Solidworks or basic 3D printing tools.
