Create content that accelerates food system reform

The Good Food Institute is a nonprofit think tank working to make the global food system better for the planet, people, and animals. Alongside scientists, businesses, and policymakers, GFI’s teams focus on making plant-based and cultivated meat delicious, affordable, and accessible. Powered by philanthropy, GFI is an international network of organizations advancing alternative proteins as an essential solution needed to meet the world’s climate, global health, food security, and biodiversity goals.

How You Will Make a Difference

As the Digital Engagement Intern, you will have the opportunity to help develop a library of evergreen content that will enable the Good Food Institute to effectively share its many reports, tools, and key messages with target audiences through social media and email marketing channels. You will also develop a calendar to promote the content you’ve created. This is a great opportunity to learn all about the burgeoning alternative protein field while honing your ability to write clear, concise copy for digital channels. The Digital Engagement Intern will be responsible for the following:

  • Refreshing and expanding our existing repository of evergreen digital content.
  • Developing a solid understanding of GFI’s key messages and talking points and synthesizing this information for target audiences.
  • Identifying reports, landing pages, blogs, and other resources from the GFI website that are appropriate for evergreen promotion.
  • Drafting a few versions of copy to promote each resource across social media channels (primarily Twitter and LinkedIn) and newsletters.
  • Creating custom URLs to track engagement.
  • Organizing and presenting the evergreen content library in a user-friendly format.
  • Delivering a 2-3 month social media content calendar of evergreen posts that can complement our existing social post schedule.
Who We’re Looking For

The Digital Engagement Intern must have:

  • Exceptional writing skills; direct experience in writing for social media, email marketing, and/or the web preferred.
  • Ability to perform independent, self-paced work.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of organization and efficiency.
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate complex concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Preferred: Experience using Sprout Social, HootSuite, TweetDeck, or other social media management tools.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with the alt protein field, general food sustainability concepts, and major environmental nonprofits.
  • Strong support for GFI’s philosophy and mission; demonstrated interest in plant based & other alt proteins, public health, environmentalism, climate change, animal protection, or hunger relief

We want the best people and we don’t want biases holding us back. We strongly encourage people of every race, color, orientation, age, gender, origin, and ability to apply.
