Job Description

Redaptive is searching for a Software Engineering Manager. If you are a software leader with experience building production cloud-based software applications and interested in driving energy-efficiency to scale, you may be a great fit for Redaptive’s Software Engineering Manager role.  In this role you will be responsible for leading our back-end and front-end software engineering teams developing a highly scalable and real-time energy management solution. This role will collaborate closely with Senior Management, DevOps, Data Science, Product Management, and QA. This role can be based remotely anywhere in the USA and will work closely with international teammates. This position reports to the Director of Engineering & Data Science.

Job Description

  • Drive the delivery of new software functionality and bug fixes into our production cloud-based SaaS and data platforms.
  • Hire, develop, and retain top-tier back-end and front-end software engineers.
  • Continuously improve the software engineering practice at Redaptive by setting best practices, development processes, standard tooling, and a culture of continuous learning / innovation.
  • Willingness to make hands-on code, be a leader in defining architecture for software rebuilds, and review contributions to our production codebases.
  • Collaborate with product and senior management to identify and prioritize development tasks.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • 5+ years working hands-on as a full-stack software engineer.
  • 2+ years people management experience on teams building cloud-based production software systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience on the job as a data or software engineer depending on level and type of experience.
  • Experience with an open-source oriented stack, ideally with the following languages: Java / Spring, Node.js.
  • Experience with cloud computing, preferably the AWS suite. For example: IOT, S3, Lambdas, SQS, RDBMS (PostgreSQL), API Gateway, Sagemaker.
  • Experience working with data from the electrical power and/or energy industries is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills including the ability to tailor and deliver presentations on complex systems, issues, and architectures to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Have an ergonomically correct and functional work-from-home workstation set up; amenable to working from home for the foreseeable future
  •  Permanent Authorization in the US is required at this time.

  • Expected annual salary: $166,000 (subject to adjustment for relevant experience, skills, geo location)
  • Annual at-target bonus: minimum 10% of salary depending on level of role
