This job opportunity is located in Berkeley, CA. The internship position is an in-office position.

Position Summary 

CTE is seeking a part-time, student intern to assist with general office management, HR, and IT activities in support of a ten-person staff. The Intern will also gain experience providing clerical support on medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicle deployment projects. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is able to work independently to overcome obstacles, suggest better approaches, and communicate effectively – verbally, visually, and in writing. Prior experience with zero-emission vehicles is not needed, but attention to detail, strong organizing skills, and the ability to support and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously are key.   • Sustain strong attention to detail across multiple tasks/projects (both office management and project management tasks)
  • Manage a stock of supplies by ordering items, including but not limited to computer hardware, stationary, cleaning products, and food/beverage
  • Maintain a neat office environment through routine cleaning and tidying
  • Organize the office to maximize space and create intuitive storage systems
  • Organizing staff events/activities (e.g. lunches, outings, etc.)
  • Ensure that health and safety protocols are up to date
  • Maintain updates to annual labor law and other compliance posters, as needed
  • Securely mail and ship documents to employees, clients, and contractors
  • Develop procedures and strategies to simplify workflows and eliminate redundancies
  • Provide light IT support (e.g. coordinating computer repair/replacement and troubleshooting)
  • Facilitate the exchange of information across multiple parties using effective and cordial communication
  • Get up to speed quickly on zero-emission vehicle technologies and their applications
  • Support senior- and mid-level managers as part of a project team
  • Support multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Assist in data management and analysis tasks


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree candidate
  • High degree of organizational skill and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to prioritize/execute to meet the needs of the organization in a timely manner
  • Ability to work as a self-starter
  • Desire to learn and grow professionally
  • Demonstrated history of collaboration and teamwork
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficient in English writing
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States


Pay and Hours

  • $18/hour
  • Approximately 20 hours/week (willing to work around school schedule)
  • Must report to CTE office
  • Internship will be on a semester-by-semester basis (4-6 months) with option to renew
